Could it be that something happened to Nathaniel in Buranda this time?
Taylor had always been the most capable person around Nathaniel, but now he wasn't by his side. If something had happened, Taylor would never forgive himself.
But he couldn't leave Frey alone. Their small circle of friends had long realized that Frey was Nathaniel's lifeline.
If they lost Frey, it would be as if they lost their lives too.
With a tense face, Taylor drove Frey to Peyton's tea shop in East Saeville. The shop was closed today to celebrate Peyton's birthday.
Peyton didn't have many relatives or friends around her and didn't want a big birthday party. She just wanted to liven things up in the store. Several employees, as well as Frey, were all young and familiar with each other.
Frey walked in with the gift. The previous booths in the store had already been dismantled and put together. As she walked in, she saw the cake shop staff delivering the black swan cake she had ordered.
A group of girls took out their cameras to take pictures, and the face of the handsome guy delivering the cake turned slightly red.
"Thank you, Frey!" Peyton, the birthday girl, sat happily in the middle.
There were cakes on the table, as well as various seafood and other dishes from takeout.
Peyton opened the red wine and poured Frey a glass of fruit wine.
Frey handed the gift box to Peyton. "Happy birthday, Peyton!"
Peyton eagerly took the gift box. "What did you get for me?"
"Open it up!" Only when Frey faced Peyton did her smile lose all pretense and calculation.
Peyton quickly opened the wrapping paper and the blue velvet box. When she saw the bracelet inside, her eyes lit up with surprise.
