Chapter 52 Cornered
Nathaniel scoffed and grabbed Freya’s left hand before Jacob could stop him. His intervention only made Nathaniel squeeze harder. The sharp pain made Freya wince in pain.
Jacob pulled Freya’s hand out, raised a toast to Nathaniel and said, “Let’s have a drink, Mr. Morgan.”
Nathaniel replied with a smile and said, “Sure, let’s do just that.”
“No, she doesn’t drink. She’ll have a glass of your best milk please,” said Jacob.
Since it would be inappropriate to drink warm milk on such an occasion, Freya picked up a glass of liquor and drank with them. Nathaniel seemed like a gentleman at the moment. It almost seemed like he was a completely different person compared to how he usually was when he was alone with Freya..
Nathaniel’s expression turned bitter as soon as he approached Abigail after making some small talk.
Abigail was clenching her fists when she noticed how cold Nathaniel looked. She could not believe how much he had lost himself in the person he loved. So, she forced a smile and said, “Is everything alright, Nathan? Should we head back now?”
However, Nathaniel ignored her as he remained in the VIP lounge. His silence only prompted Abigail to join him.
Soon, the ball began as the entire room turned livelier
