Hunter was about to say something when Kara shouted in frustration. "Enough! It's settled—I'm calling Nolan right now."
With that, she choked back tears and dialed Nolan's number. "Nolan, let Hunter go. Please, I'm begging you."
Her voice was loud, even forceful. If this were what it looked like to ask for help, no one in this world would ever ask for anything.
But then, Nolan's calm voice came through, saying, "Hand the phone to Hunter."
Kara immediately gave the phone to Hunter, who, trembling slightly, said, "Mr. Greene, I'm sorry. I didn't recognize who I was dealing with and made a terrible mistake.
"Please don't be angry. What Kara said doesn't reflect my feelings. I'll accept whatever punishment you decide. Rest assured."
Nolan replied coolly, "No need. Since Kara spoke up, I'll let this go this time. You're free to go to the hospital." With that, he hung up.
Hunter returned the phone to Kara and sighed, saying, "Kara, thank you. If it weren't for you, who knows how long this would have gone on or if I'd keep this arm and leg?"
With that, his men carefully helped him, ready to take him to the hospital.
She tried to follow, but he refused. "Kara, just thank Mr. Greene for me. And I think you may have misunderstood him—he's not how you imagine. You should try getting along with him. It wouldn't hurt."
Kara wanted to argue with Hunter, but seeing him barely able to walk, leaving a trail of blood, she couldn't bring herself to say anything.
