The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 158

Lincoln nodded grimly, saying, "Mr. Greene, you're insightful. The Baxter family isn't a true match for Mr. Lynch, but that doesn't mean we won't put up a fight.

"We've decided to stand by you and won't regret it. Rest assured, we'll protect you at all costs. That's the Baxter family's promise."

Nolan didn't quite understand what had driven the Baxter family to make such a risky decision. After all, they didn't know much about him. Yet, they had committed themselves. It was a choice he had to respect, whether he wanted to or not.

"Maybe things won't end as badly as you think. Lincoln, perhaps your decision is the right one after all."

Seeing the astonished expression on Lincoln's face, he merely smiled without saying anything more.

Soon, the convoy arrived at the Baxter residence. The entire mansion was brightly lit, with guards posted every few steps. Security was noticeably tighter than before, and they were clearly prepared for any trouble.

Robert was being held in a warehouse off the estate's side. Archie was there personally, sitting in a chair across from Robert, who was tied up and sitting on the floor.

"Mr. Baxter, I didn't expect you to go this far. Didn't I make myself clear? Mr. Lynch already sent men to kill Nolan. Has the Baxter family lost their mind? How dare you provoke Mr. Lynch for some outsider?"
