The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 168

To Kara, Megan would never lie to her. Therefore, whatever Megan said had to be true. Upon learning that Nolan and Lincoln were not involved in any way beyond a casual acquaintance, Kara felt a wave of relief wash over her.

"So that's it. It terrified me. I thought Nolan had some sort of connection with Lincoln. Then, I wouldn't be able to deal with this big fat liar in the future.

"It turns out to be just a casual acquaintance. Even though he tried to appear intimidating, it was just a facade. He turned out to be nothing but a liar. It was all just an act."

Megan smiled as she said, "Don't be upset, Kara. If you don't have anything else to say, I'm going to rest. And don't worry about Nolan. You don't need to go through so much trouble just to deal with him. Just let your sister see his true colors.

"However, this isn't an issue. Your sister will eventually see the truth. That's all. Goodbye." After those words, Megan ended the call.

Kara's smile as she glanced at Kitty and Dipsy in the car. "Did you both hear that? This is Megan, the chairman of Megan Corporation. Surely you don't believe what she said was wrong?"

Megan's persona had been successfully crafted. At least in Bellington, many people, especially young girls, saw her as a role model.

After all, she had overcome numerous obstacles to start her own successful business and achieve great miracles—something that many girls envied and dreamed of emulating.

How could they not have believed Megan's words?

Kitty and Dipsy opened their mouths to speak, but Kara shook her head.

"There's no need for further words," she said. "I've reached my sister's home, and I'll be staying here for the night. If there’s anything, we can talk about it tomorrow."
