The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 193

Seeing Shaun's excitement, Peter quickly put on a smile. "Yes, that should be the way. How dare Nolan compete with you for a woman? He must have a death wish.

"Mr. Baxter, the way I see it, we shouldn't even be protecting him. We should just let him die. You're just too kind."

Shaun was pleased. "Well, he did save my grandfather after all. So we'll let him live a few more days. If he dies now, it'll be troublesome to explain to Audrey. But make no mistake, his days are numbered. The Baxters will never go against Mr. Lynch just to protect him.

"Alright. That's enough talk. We've arrived. It's time to meet Mr. Lynch." Sighing, Shaun added, "My father and Lincoln are getting old. The Baxters' future rests with me."

With that, Shaun exited the car, carrying himself like a savior. At the entrance to the manor, he put on a polite smile and addressed the guard.

"Could you please send word that the eldest son of the Baxter family, Shaun Baxter, is here to visit Mr. Lynch?"

The guard glanced at Shaun and nodded, then headed in to relay the message. Soon, Shaun was led through the entrance alone, with none of his men permitted to accompany him.

Inside, the guard searched him thoroughly, almost stripping him entirely. It was honestly humiliating for Shaun, yet he didn't look the least bit upset. After all, he was meeting Gregory, and he understood it was only fitting.
