The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 197

After leaving Gregory's manor, Shaun could no longer contain his excitement. Peter saw him approach and quickly went up to him.

"Mr. Baxter, what did Mr. Lynch say? Did he give you a chance?"

Shaun laughed heartily. "Not only did he give me a chance, he gave me a gift from the heavens. Do you know who Gregory is to me now?"

Peter was confused. "Who?"

Shaun smacked him in the head playfully. "Gregory is now my godfather. With him backing me, I'll not only dominate Bellington, but the entire Eastern State!" Shaun cackled.

Godfather? Peter was stunned. Shaun had only been inside for a short while, and they'd been worried Gregory might refuse him, perhaps even pose a threat to his life. But now, he was Gregory's godson?

The shift in events was staggering, but it was undoubtedly fantastic news. As Shaun's confidant, Shaun's success and elevated status would naturally bring better days for Peter too.

"Congratulations, Mr. Baxter. I'm sure your father will be thrilled to hear this. He'll definitely take your advice and get rid of Nolan now."

Shaun stopped walking, and his expression soured. Clearly, the mention of Nolan had bothered him, especially since Archie had put the entire family at risk for Nolan. It was as if Nolan was Archie's son instead.
