The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 215

Seeing how furious Archie was, Shaun suddenly scoffed.

He kneeled on the ground as instructed. Though, he still didn't look like he was giving up.

Shaun said, "Dad, I'm kneeling now because I'm respecting you as your son. Do you really think I just want to be the head of the family? That's not it.

"I'm only doing this for you, Dad. You've been working hard to take care of the Baxters all these years, and you had to worry about everything about the family.

"In the end, you don't even have time for yourself, and you've stopped smiling more and more. I feel bad for you, but I know that I can't do anything about it. So, I just have to do my best in what I can help you with."

As he spoke, he looked like he was hurt. It was as if he could feel the exhaustion that Archie had felt all those years.

Shaun continued, "Now that the Baxters are in danger, I can see how hard it has been for you. I really don't want you to live like this anymore. Since you're interested in retiring, just let me take over. I promise the Baxter family can get through this crisis in my hands! Dad, please think about it carefully!"

Shaun stayed on the ground when he spoke and wasn't planning to get up at all. It was as if that was the only way he could prove how sincere he was.

However, he was only doing it to force Archie into doing what he wanted.

Archie looked at Shaun. He couldn't believe he would actually want to take over him by force.

He furiously kicked Shaun to the side.
