At that moment, the other guests in the hall turned to look at the scene at the entrance. They couldn't help their curiosity. It was rare for the three most beautiful women in the hall to gather.

Nolan, who stood between the three women, had become the center of attention.

Audrey did not balk before Megan and snapped through gritted teeth, "How dare you come here with Jeanne to mock Nolan when you were the one who left him, Megan? What are you hoping to achieve?

"What did Nolan do to you to deserve such scathing words? What will it take for you guys to back off? Do you want to see Nolan suffer? Is that it?

"I wouldn't be this worked up if anyone else had done this, Megan, but you have no right to pull this stunt! Nolan single-handedly saved your family from poverty, and you begged to marry him. You said you loved him and told him no one else in the world could love you as much as he did.

"He loved you so much that he even went to prison for you! So, don't you stand there and hurl abuse at him, Megan. You don't get to mock him after you refused to compensate him for his time in prison and filed for divorce.

"You even sent your family to pick on him and bring him down. You didn't show him an ounce of kindness or gratitude. How will you ever make up for that sort of betrayal, Megan?"

Audrey let her rage flow with her words. Everything she said was in Nolan's defense as she spilled the truth that Megan had never acknowledged.

Megan's face was stormy as she glowered at Audrey and retorted, "Love must have warped your brain, Audrey! Aren't you worried that Nicholas would hear you speaking up for Nolan and beat you up to the point of needing medical attention again?

"I knew you were in love with Nolan right from the get-go. Now that I've divorced him, you must think it's your chance to have him. Not that I'm surprised. People like you are only good for picking up others' trash, anyway.

"Don't be so conceited as to think the world revolves around you, Megan. I may be a loser, but I will never fall in love again with someone as traitorous and cruel as you!"

Megan was on the verge of swearing when she heard Nolan's retort. She was even more incensed that he said he wore the suit for Audrey. Nonetheless, she checked her temper on account of her surroundings. If they were anywhere else, she might have snapped at him.

While Megan was fuming, Audrey was beaming at Nolan like he was her entire world. She was happy to hear that he had worn this suit for her. She wondered if she was too presumptuous to think he had accepted her now that he had made it clear that she was his date for the evening.

The more Audrey thought about it, the deeper her blush. She couldn't help feeling bashful, but the color in her otherwise pale cheeks only added to her beauty.

Megan was beside herself with anger. Suddenly, she noticed Audrey's necklace, and she froze as recognition dawned upon her.
