Megan smirked and said, "There's no way that jewelry is real. A fake is a fake, no matter how good it looks."
She continued, sounding confident, "The real Crystal of Devotion is worth nearly 100 million dollars. Nolan could never afford it, not even in ten lifetimes.
"But I'm not going to let him get away with fooling everyone with that fake jewelry. Just wait—I'm going to make sure everyone knows it's fake, and I'll enjoy watching him get embarrassed."
Turning to Jeanne, she said, "You know a jewelry appraiser, right? Let's get them to take a look. I want this to happen in front of everyone so that Nolan and Audrey won't be able to show their faces again."
Jeanne smiled and nodded. "I know someone who works for Norwich Jewelers. Once they say it's fake, no one will be able to argue."
Megan felt satisfied, already imagining how embarrassed Nolan and Audrey would be when their secret was exposed. She couldn't wait to see it happen.
Nolan was already busy painting, his hand moving confidently with the brush.
Whether he was good at it or not didn't seem to matter. The way he painted, finishing the whole piece without stopping, made him look like he knew what he was doing. He didn't seem nervous at all, just really sure of himself.
He finished painting a serene landscape of a mountain by a tranquil river, with a lone fisherman casting his line from a small boat. Then, he signed his name in the corner and added a special mark to show it was his own work.
