"Seriously? I thought Nolan might try to make his painting seem more impressive by saying he learned from some famous painter, but he's even more arrogant than I expected.

"He's saying that whoever buys this painting can ask him for one favor. But he's really just making it so he can refuse any request he doesn't like.

"This is a new level of arrogance. Nolan must be sure this painting will sell, or he wouldn't make such big promises. It's clear he's just trying to look good. Mentioning 'contributing to charity' is just a way to remind everyone that this is the Baxter family's event and that people should give them a break.

"Calling him shameless is an understatement."

Megan was even more annoyed seeing Nolan stay so calm on stage.

She spoke up, convinced her suspicions were spot on.

Jeanne shook her head and said, "What a show! This painting isn't worth much, and his conditions are a joke. With all these important people here, why would anyone care about what Nolan has to offer? It's ridiculous."

"But Megan, don't be surprised if it works," Jeanne added. "Everyone wants to help the Baxter family from being embarrassed."

Megan, annoyed but accepting, said, "Let him make a fool of himself. It won't sell for much, anyway. At least we'll get to see him embarrassed.

"And starting the bid at just one dollar? That's pathetic. It'll be really embarrassing if it only goes for a few thousand dollars."

The bids began to roll in.
