The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 91

Megan actually said there was a misunderstanding between them?

"Megan, are you running a fever? Do you even know what you're saying? Or do you really think I'm an idiot?" Nolan asked.

"A misunderstanding? What misunderstanding?

"Was it a misunderstanding when you divorced me the moment I stepped out of prison? Or when your brother and mother came to my house looking for trouble?

"Or perhaps it was all a misunderstanding when you threatened, belittled, and ridiculed me at every turn?

"If all of these were just misunderstandings, then it truly would be the biggest misunderstanding of them all."

Megan felt the blood drain from her face as Nolan recounted each grievance one by one, fully aware she was in the wrong.

However, she could only endure it to ensure Nolan and Audrey suffered the consequences. That was the only way she could achieve the best outcome.

Megan took a deep breath. Looking at Nolan, she commented softly, "Nolan, I know you're angry right now, and that's why you've done all of this to provoke me and make me upset."

Nolan burst out in laughter at this. "Megan, you've misunderstood. Everything I've done has nothing to do with you. Don't flatter yourself."

Megan didn't get angry. Maintaining her tone, she said, "You're just saying that out of anger. If you truly didn't care about me, you wouldn't have stopped to talk to me. You wouldn't be Nolan if you truly no longer had feelings for me.

"Nolan, are you willing to face reality? Can you be honest and tell me I no longer have a place in your heart? That you no longer love me?
