As soon as the car started, Megan burst into laughter.

"Jeanne, did you see Audrey's expression? It was priceless! She looked pitiful with her pale complexion and panicked gaze."

Megan was laughing so hard that it was difficult to tell if she was thrilled at angering Audrey or at the possibility that she still had a chance to get back with Nolan.

Jeanne nodded with a grin. "I saw it, too. I told you that you got this. As long as you step in, Nolan's a done deal.

"How did it go? Nolan must've been moved and was eager to get back together with you. I saw you two hug. He must be over the moon."

Megan flashed a smug smile. "Of course. Nolan admitted that he still loves me and that I still have a place in his heart. Hah! Even though he's still hurt and hesitant to hope for anything, that's enough for me.

"Just wait and see. When the time comes, I'll drag them both from their little paradise straight to hell. They'll be in so much pain that they'll wish they were dead.

"How dare he deceive me, play games with me, and lay hands on my family? Did he really think I'd forgive him? What an idiot.

"Jeanne, I'm more convinced than ever that everything Nolan did was just to get my attention. Well, he succeeded, but not in the way he wanted. The more he tries to impress me, the more he disgusts me. I'll crush him this time!"

Jeanne smiled. "When I chatted with Audrey earlier, I also told her that everyone could tell Nolan was a fraud. But Audrey is completely clueless. It looks like she's so involved that she's been blinded.

"I even suggested that the simplest way to prove it is to get her jewelry appraised by Norwich Jewelers. She doesn't even dare to do so. She's terrified of shattering her little dream.

"But that's fine. If she won't do it, I have other ways to ensure she finds out everything is a lie. By now, our dear friend is probably feeling heartbroken enough to cry."
