The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1487

Chapter 1487 A Phone Call With Logan

Cindy then thought of Ian’s attitude that night—he had behaved as though she owed him money.

She did owe him some money before, but she had already paid him back.

Meanwhile, Ian was at home. The house was empty, nary a sound to be heard.

He hadn’t eaten anything at noon because he had zero appetite. When he returned home, he washed himself up and headed straight to his room.

In truth, this wasn’t far off from his life before all this. Before Cindy came to live here, that was how he spent his days.

However, why did he feel a little uncomfortable even though he simply returned to his old routine?

Ian paced around his room for a while before he took out his phone. He then scrolled through his contacts, his gaze lingering on Cindy’s name for a moment before swiping away.

He ended up calling Logan. After all, he was the only one Ian could chat with now.

Logan was rather quick at answering his phone, and he was all smiles as he did so. “Hey Ian, you finally got some time to yourself.”

Ian affirmed this before saying, “My schedules for the near future aren’t packed, so I have plenty of time off.”

“Nice. Why work so hard when you’re this young? You got a long life ahead of you,” Logan said. He then continued, “I’ve talked to Lorraine. She said that she can arrange for some resources, but from the looks of it, you won’t be getting anything fancy. At most, you will be able to network a bit and get some people to remember your face. As for the future, you’ll definitely have to wait for your mother’s reputation to build up first, and only then Lorraine will be able to get you better resources.”

Ian nodded. “All right, I got it.”

He hadn’t called Logan today to ask about those resources; he just didn’t have anyone else to talk to.

Logan could sense that something was off with Ian’s tone. “What is it? It doesn’t sound like you’re happy.”

“I’m not unhappy.” Ian let out a breath. “It’s boring when there’s nothing to do, so I just wanted to have a chat with you.”

Logan whistled. “What about that assistant of yours? Isn’t she with you?”

Ian went quiet for a few seconds before he spoke again. “I gave her the day off.”

“No wonder you have the time to call me,” Logan said, a comprehending tone to his voice.

Ian felt like laughing then. “What are you saying? What, are you blaming me for leaving you out in the cold?”

“Nope.” Logan snorted. “You don’t usually call me when you have nothing to do. You must have been cosying up to that little assistant of yours.” Before Ian could answer, Logan continued to speak. “Why did you give her the day off? Isn’t this a time when you two should be spending a saccharine time together? Why did you let her go?”

Ian pinched his forehead. “Did you forget that I said I gave her the day off? Don’t make it sound like there’s something going on between us. Also, don’t just spout garbage the next time we meet. It’s embarrassing.”

“What’s so embarrassing about it?” Logan didn’t think much about it. “If you turn those fantasies into reality, wouldn’t everything be resolved by then?”

Ian sucked in a breath, for he thought that Logan’s words didn’t make sense.

Logan was like an old father figure who was especially worried about Ian’s love life. Ever since Cindy showed up in Ian’s life, Logan wished that Ian and Cindy would get together.

Meanwhile, after Cindy and Naomi had finished their dinner, they returned to their hotel room and started to play some games. After all, they used to play together back when they were students.

Naomi grinned. “I didn’t expect you to still be playing this. I haven’t touched the game in ages because of work, and I recently downloaded it again.”

Cindy opened the game and stared at the screen. “Me too. I haven’t played this game in forever. I only just started playing again a few days ago.”

She saw that Ian was online as well.

Cindy stared at Ian’s profile picture for a bit, but in the end, she decided not to invite him to her party; she just acted like she hadn’t seen him.

She then formed a party with Naomi. However, since their skills were on the weaker side, they ended up losing both rounds they played.

Naomi smacked her forehead. “Trash back then, trash even now. Oh well, my reflexes are just terrible.”
