The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1528

Chapter 1528 Drunk

Upon hearing that, Aurora laughed and commented, “It isn’t the same when it comes to you, of course. He treats you as his family.” She then added, “I’m also slowly making up to him for my absence when he was little, so hopefully one day he will treat me as his family.”

It was shortly after that Ian returned with a dozen beers while an elated Aurora quickly approached him to take the carton from him.

Cindy remembered that he would not be filming for the show until almost noon the next day, so it wouldn’t matter even if he drank a bit today.

This time, Aurora opened a bottle of beer for each of them and Cindy took the proffered bottle. It was after that when Aurora poured a glass for herself before she drained its contents.

Subsequently, while they were eating, Aurora asked Cindy how she had been in the past few days of living in another place.

In fact, nothing special had happened when Cindy stayed with Naomi. As she was never an outdoor person, she hadn’t really gone out with Naomi to have fun. Instead, she was rather an introvert who preferred staying indoors whenever she had time. So, she nodded and replied, “Not bad.”

Ian, who was listening from one side, asked, “When is the next time you are going to meet up with Gary?”

Cindy, in fact, had no answer to that. Since Gary was a busy man, it would be up to him to decide their next meeting. She then raised her glass and took a sip of beer before she answered, “I’m not sure. I’m waiting for his call.”

“Okay,” Ian responded. “Inform me when you are going to meet him.”

She understood what he implied—he wanted her to notify him beforehand so that he could approve her leave.

Nonetheless, Aurora, who had a different interpretation, chuckled before she teased, “What’s wrong? Don’t you trust Cindy? As a man, you should be more generous in some matters despite feeling jealous. Cindy is going to see Gary for official matters, so don’t overthink it.”

Upon hearing that, Ian felt helpless and darted her a look without replying. However, Cindy lowered her head and laughed before she explained on his behalf, “It’s not because of jealousy; it’s to arrange my schedule.”

Aurora was stumped; she raised her glass and downed the beer.

The three of them had a meal together peacefully and managed to finish all the beer that Ian had bought in the end. Even Cindy had her fair share of alcohol; it was probably due to the incredibly pleasant atmosphere.

After having lunch, they sat on the couch and casually chatted for a while before Aurora rose to her feet.

Cindy thought about it for a moment and followed suit. Although she was fine and her head also felt alright when she sat down, she knew that something was wrong the moment she stood up by supporting herself by the table. Her head buzzed before her whole world started to spin.

She immediately sat down again as her hands supported her forehead.

On the contrary, Aurora was completely fine although she had plenty to drink. She turned to look at Cindy. “What’s wrong? Are you alright? Are you drunk?”

Cindy waved her hand. “No, I’m not.” Am I drunk? As a matter of fact, she was unsure about it as well because she was clear headed but with a blurry vision.

Although she wasn’t drunk, Aurora was obviously not as energetic as usual. She stretched her arms and uttered, “Ah, it has been such a long time since I had drunk to my heart’s content. I’m going back to take a nap. Today is such a relaxing day.”

Ian had clinked his glass against Aurora’s mug twice and chugged his drink earlier. Since he hadn’t been drinking for a long time, consuming a large amount of beer at one time caused him to feel a little tipsy when the alcohol started to take effect.

Nevertheless, he rose to his full height and shook his head. “Are you leaving? Let me take you home.”

Aurora chuckled. “Look at yourself. I bet that I have to send you back here after you take me home.” She then headed toward the door. “Both of you have drunk a lot, so go and rest. I don’t need you two to send me back. This amount of alcohol is nothing to me, so I can head back on my own. We didn’t manage to finish the food earlier and I don’t think that you two will be able to finish them, so I’ll come over to have dinner later.”

Cindy laughed out loud. “Sure, please come again tonight. I’ll make another two dishes that you like.”
