The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1549

Chapter 1549 It’s Time to Move On

After sitting on the couch for almost an hour, she saw the door finally being pushed open.

Cindy quickly stood up but even after waiting for a while, she still did not see Ian enter.

With a frown on her face, she walked toward the door and saw him standing there. He was leaning against the wall with his head lifted as he panted slightly.

He reeked of alcohol.

Upon seeing this, she quickly walked over to support him. “What happened? Did you have any business meetings tonight? Why did you drink so much?”

Cindy had never seen Ian getting drunk. She had been with him for so long, but he would never drink so much even in business meetings.

He turned around and looked at her. Then, he shook her hand off. “Don’t touch me!”

Standing beside him, she stretched her hand out for a bit but in the end, she listened to his orders and did not touch him.

However, she walked beside him. “Did you meet the investors tonight? Why didn’t you call me if you’re so drunk? I would have gone and picked you up.”

Ian did not reply to her and went into the bathroom. He stood in front of the sink and splashed some water on his face.

It was quite obvious that he was not feeling very well.

After a moment of hesitation, Cindy went forward and patted his back. “What’s wrong? Did something happen at the company? You don’t seem happy.”

Ian did not speak and placed his hands on the sink to support himself after he finished washing his face.

Cindy heaved a sigh before she turned around to go to the kitchen to make a glass of honey water.

It was only after a while did Ian exit the bathroom and she called out to him. “Drink this. Otherwise, you’ll feel worse tomorrow.”

Ian looked like he wanted to go back to his room but after hearing her words, he froze and turned around.

Cindy stared at him for quite some time before she asked again, “Are you unhappy? I feel like there’s something troubling you. If you trust me, you can tell me about it.”

Ian turned his eyes around and looked at her for a while. Then, he lifted his head and drank the honey water. After putting the glass down, he said, “It’s my problem. You don’t have to get involved in this.”

Cindy pouted upon hearing this. It seems like he doesn’t want to talk about it.

Then, Ian turned around and entered his room, thereafter closing the door. Leaning against the door, he heaved a long sigh.

It was true that it was his own problem. This had nothing to do with anyone else.

After taking a short break, he went to the bathroom and took a cold shower.

His body temperature was getting quite high as he had had alcohol. In the end, he finally felt better after taking a cold shower.

After he walked out of the bathroom, he heard his phone ringing on the bed, so he quickly walked over and picked it up.

It turned out that Logan was calling, and he sounded like he was smiling as soon as he spoke. “Are you busy?”

“No,” Ian replied. “What’s up?”

At that, Logan laughed out loud. “Nothing much. It’s just that the conversation didn't end during our call during the day. Now that we are both free, let’s have a chat.”

Ian remained silent as he turned around to sit on the bed.

In the afternoon, Logan had called him and talked about some nonsense that made him rather annoyed.

It was precisely because of his friend’s words that made Ian feel troubled for the entire afternoon.

To be frank, Ian was in no mood for a chat, but he said in a low voice, “Is your wife asleep? How come you have the time to talk to me now? Didn’t you say that you were quite busy?”

Logan chuckled. “She has just fallen asleep but I can’t sleep, so I wanted to talk to you.”

With that, he probably stretched somewhere and heaved a comfortable sigh before he continued, “Where did we leave off in the afternoon?”

Ian did not want to continue the conversation they had during the day, so he replied, “Who remembers where we left off? What do you want to talk about now?”

Logan chuckled again and ignored him as he said, “Oh—I remember. We were discussing your assistant just now.”

Then, he soon continued in a curious tone, “I still stand by what I said in the afternoon. I really think that your assistant is quite good. Ian, we don’t have to hide anything from each other. Sophia’s life is really good now and I can tell that she is all lovey-dovey with John, so it’s time for you to get over it and move on. You can’t possibly waste all your time on the past.”
