There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice. Who was Bryce to comment on the women he dated, after all? Bryce was a complete mess when it came to his love life. Anyone would agree that he was a jerk, and he had no right to comment on another person’s romantic partner.
Sean gave Ian’s words some thought. “I don’t think so. Perhaps he just wanted to take a look at the type of women you fancied.” Sean paused for a while before he continued, “Maybe you could bring her along when you visit Dad. I’m not telling you to do your job as a son—I just figured that it would look good in the public’s eyes if you bring your girlfriend to the hospital, especially when there are so many bad articles about you out there.”
Ian didn’t protest upon hearing Sean’s words and simply responded with an ambiguous answer. “I’ll see how it goes. I need to talk to her about it first.”
Sean nodded before he dropped the topic. All three of them didn’t have many plans that day, so they were in no rush to leave. The atmosphere was pleasant as they sipped on their tea and nibbled on their desserts.
Meanwhile, Cindy got impatient as she waited for Aurora and Ian to get home. After waiting for what felt like a century, she glanced at the time and got herself changed before she headed downstairs. She didn’t go out to look for Aurora and Ian, but took a trip to the supermarket before she went to the park.
She thought that she was early, but she noticed that there were already other people warming up by the time she arrived. Her eyes quickly spotted Xaiver who had taught her how to play badminton that day. She had accepted his badminton racket, so she felt the need to initiate a conversation with him despite being a generally reserved person.
“You guys are really early!” She walked over to greet him. The guy looked stunned when he first saw Cindy, but he quickly flashed her a wide grin. “Look! I was just about to text you.” He waved his phone in front of Cindy’s face as he spoke.
His phone screen showed the WhatsApp conversation between him and her. “I thought I was early, and I thought I’d have to wait for you guys. I can’t believe you guys are more pumped for this than I am,” she said with a smile.
Xaiver put his phone away. “We didn’t have much to do today, so we came earlier.”
Cindy thought about what he said and realized that it was Saturday today. One day had blended into another, so she barely knew the day and date at that point.
After talking to him, Cindy turned around and placed a bag of refreshments on the chair. She then pulled her racket out before she began to mimic the way the guy did his warm-up. A while later, the guy walked over and placed his hands on her shoulders to adjust her posture, probably because her movements weren’t correct. Cindy felt rather uneasy when he touched her, but she wasn’t able to resist his help as she knew that he had good intentions.
When she tilted her head to see the guy’s hand on her shoulder, she couldn’t help but think about Ian. It was an inappropriate time to be thinking about such things, but all she could recall was how Ian had his hand around her waist. Things had been a mess that night, and they weren’t exactly sober. However, when she reflected on what they did, she realized how they had definitely been too intimate, especially when their legs were tangled up together.
After zoning out for a short while, Cindy noticed someone from the corner of her eye. It was a girl in a high ponytail and sportswear, and she was staring at Cindy. The girl seemed like an active and lively person, but she stuck her chin up and glared at Cindy when she realized that Cindy had seen her. She wore an indignant expression on her face.
Although Cindy had never been in a relationship or crushed on someone else, she was sensitive and alert enough to know what was going on when the girl stared at her with a threatening glare. This girl probably likes the guy who’s beside me now. Well, what a surprise! If I was in the girl’s shoes… Hm… If I saw Ian interacting with another girl like this, I would feel uneasy too. I won’t annoy that girl anymore.
At that thought, Cindy exclaimed. “Ah! I think I understand now. I got it.” She turned around and avoided coming in contact with the guy’s body. Then, she swung her arms around a few times. “Like this, right?”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
