The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1704

Chapter 1704 This Family Is Disgusting

Leah felt Ian also knew that Bryce didn’t have long to live, so he was probably trying to take advantage of Bryce’s last few days alive to grab some of the family assets. She knew that considering the relationship between Bryce and Ian, Bryce would not give his son much, but it still made her uncomfortable if Ian were to take even a bit more away from her.

Ian had cut to the chase when he said, "I told you not to provoke me. If you can allow your son to reveal my matters to the press, I can easily do that to you too. After all, you have a lot more scandals than me.”

After saying that, he snickered. "Ms. Cheshire has a good relationship with you, right? I’m sure you know what she’s like. Don’t you think it’ll be easy for me to find out from her things that you did before?"

She was still silent on the other end of the line. There was no way for her to refute him because he was indeed correct. She used to work under Ms. Cheshire at the nightclub and that woman only ever cared about money, which was why she could buy Ms. Cheshire’s silence and stop her from spilling any tea with money. In fact, this allowed Ms. Cheshire to demand money from her every year.

Thankfully, Leah was able to pay that woman off and had lived in peace and quiet all this while. However, if those scandalous matters fell into Ian’s lap, things would no longer be resolvable with money.

Since she didn’t dare to speak, it made Ian contemptuous of her. He had so much dirt on her yet she dared to threaten him?

He didn’t want to talk to her anymore as other than screaming her head off, she was practically useless. He finally added, "Tell your son to be careful because not only do I have your scandals, I also naturally have his."

After saying these words, he hung up the phone. In the end, Leah was defeated by him, but Cindy was still so exasperated that her face swelled up in rage. Her face held such deep disgust that had never appeared before as she asked, "What kind of people are in this family? It's disgusting."

Cindy had never used such harsh words to evaluate others and now that she said so, it was evident that she had lost her top. Ian lifted his hand and ruffled her hair in an extremely doting manner before he consoled, "Okay, okay, don't be angry. It's pointless to be mad with such people."

Without thinking much, a tense Cindy turned to look at Ian before she quipped, "She actually scolded you like that, though. How dare she scold you like that!"

What she said had amused him. He lowered his hand to smoothly pinch her cheeks before he commented, "We can’t control what others say. Let her scold me; it only proves how crude she is."

However, she still had a long face. As she raised her hand, she slapped his arm. "Stop pinching me."

A smiling Ian noted, "Okay, okay. Let's eat; we won’t let these things affect our mood."

Cindy thought about it, sighed and turned around to call for Aurora. Aurora had almost fallen asleep at this time and didn’t even know that her son had just answered the call. Otherwise, considering her hot temper, she would have snatched the phone and scolded Leah in return. She never lost to anyone in an argument and was with a number of men before, so she naturally had encountered bad-tempered ones.

Thus, her temper worsened and if the situation allowed, she would actually fight anyone in her way without fear.

As she emerged from her room, she first went to look at the dishes Cindy made. Then, she smilingly complimented, "Oh, there are several dishes that are my favorite. You’re a really good daughter-in-law."

The moment Aurora said those words, she realized something was wrong. She looked at Cindy and asked, "What's wrong with you? Why the long face? Did he provoke you again?"

Before Cindy could speak, Aurora turned to address Ian. “Can’t you behave yourself? I just went in for a nap and you’re acting up again!”

Upon hearing that, Ian felt helpless. "Are you my biological mother or not? You are a fake, right?"

Aurora went along with Ian's words. "I wish Cindy’s my daughter. What's the use of having a son like you?"

While he laughed, he raised his hand to gently stroke the back of Cindy's head. "How do you have such great charm? Everyone likes you so much."
