The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1743

Chapter 1743 A Talk

Cindy could not sleep, for all she could think about was the wet dream. In that dream, Ian was a gentle soul, and everything he did made her heart flutter. She wanted to talk, but she had no good topic, so she came up with a random one. “Have you ever planned out your future before?”

Ian answered, “No. Not in the past, but I did come up with a rough sketch yesterday.” He had no idea what to do with his future back then. Ian would just go with the flow. When he fell for Sophia, all he wanted was to date her, but he never thought about their future together. However, when he made out with Cindy the day before, he started to think about their future.

He never liked the entertainment industry, so his plan was to make enough money and marry Cindy. He didn’t care even if that would make him lose a ton of fans. When he saw Sophia’s kid and Lola pregnant with one, he would be lying if he said he wasn’t moved.

His friends were settling down and forming a family, so he wanted one too. But Cindy had just graduated college, so he thought it was too early to propose. After some hesitation, he asked, “What about you? Do you have any plans?”

He knew she couldn’t keep being his assistant. Ian knew what she majored in, and he knew what she gave up to become his assistant. He had seen her design drafts lying around the place, and he knew she had drawn those in her spare time. Obviously, Cindy, like Martin Luther King Jr., had a dream.

Cindy chuckled. “Me? I want to be a top fashion designer, get famous, and make a lot of money. And then you can retire, because I’ll have enough money to support the both of us.”

Ian laughed heartily. “Sure. I’ll be counting on you then.”

The conversation reminded Cindy of another matter. “I wonder how the investment is going on Mr. Frye’s side. It’s been a long time since we talked, and I haven’t asked him about the returns.”

Gary seemed to be busy at work because he didn’t call her lately. He only called her once when she and Ian were in a fight, and he knew she went back home.

He told her to relax and have fun, then he never called her again. It’s been a while since then.

Cindy was about to take her phone, but Ian hugged her tightly. “What are you doing? Are you calling Gary again?”

Cindy knew Ian disliked Gary, so she denied, “No. I was just going to look at the time. It’s almost time for breakfast.”

Ian did not let her go. “Stop calling Gary. Let me handle the investment. I’ll deal with him.”

“Okay.” Cindy explained, “But you don’t have to worry about me and him. We’re just business partners. I don’t get why you think he’d try to date me.”

A rich man like Gary won’t fall for me. He’s a businessman. They care about their partner’s prestige.

Ian didn’t really know why he had made that connection. Even he thought a businessman like Gary would be an arrogant prick. After all, people like him would only want partners who were the best in everything, from education to background. Honestly, Cindy was a long way away from being the best.

But he just couldn’t help it. He had a feeling Gary was acting differently toward Cindy. Maybe he’s not serious and just playing around. Men knew fellow men the most, and Ian thought his concern was spot on. However, he did not want to argue with Cindy over it, so he said, “I actually already had a crush on you back then. Of course I’d get jealous if a guy suddenly shows up and starts being nice to you.”
