The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1748

Chapter 1748 Coming Back

Right after he said that, the phone on the nightstand rang.

Sean was right beside Bryce, so he could see who was calling the moment he turned around, and his face fell. Bryce didn’t look at the phone, but he could guess who the caller was. Ian and the others had been there for a while. Leah had her own men keeping an eye, so she must have gotten the news as well.

Bryce sneered and told Sean, “Ignore her. The more you entertain them, the more they’ll annoy you.”

Sean switched the phone to silent mode and tossed it into the drawer, then he propped Bryce up and fed him some water.

Aurora was sitting beside Ian, frowning slightly at Bryce.

Cindy looked at her and held her hand tightly as a show of support.

Aurora looked at her and smiled. She shook her head, and a few moments later, she said, It’s fine. Everything is fine.” She heaved a sigh, and her voice became barely a whisper. “Everything has always been fine.” Everything had already ended from the moment she broke off ties with Bryce.

Bryce was still feeling unwell even after he had some water, and he patted his chest. It was the first time Cindy had seen Bryce showing his vulnerable side after so long.

Ian, Cindy, Aurora, and Sean stayed in the ward for more than an hour. In the end, someone called Sean and told him Leah was coming over, and Sean turned to Ian. “Alright, it’s almost time. You guys should go back now. It’s going to get messy here, and it’ll only get messier if you guys are here. If the media caught wind of this, our hard work would have been for nothing.”

Ian understood what Sean was getting at. After all, the only person who could make a mess out of the situation now was Leah. He did not want his mother to bump into Leah under that circumstance. Leah was probably furious, so she would not hold back with her insults. Even though Aurora had cut all ties with Bryce, Leah could still use her past against her. Ian stood up and held Cindy’s hand with one hand, then he held his mother’s arm with the other. “It’s time for us to leave. Goodbye.”

Aurora nodded. “Let’s go. We have nothing more to do here anyway.” She did not even look at Bryce.

Cindy and Ian said goodbye before they left, but Aurora did not even spare Bryce a glance.

They left the warding area and went to the car park. Ian didn’t leave immediately even though they had gotten in the car. They waited silently for something to appear, and a moment later, another car drove past them. Ian recognized Leah’s car, so he smiled the moment he saw it coming into his sight.

Cindy knew what he was waiting for, but Aurora leaned back on her seat, looking spaced out.

Leah had no idea Ian was around. She and her children got out of the car and stormed off toward the warding area immediately.

Ian saw them off, feeling amused. Well, it’s his problem now. What goes around comes around, and this is the epitome of it.

The world was fair, at least in the fictional world. You fool around with women when you’re young and stupid, and now your women are going to tear you apart. I wonder if that guy has ever regretted his decision. After Leah and her children had disappeared into the hospital, Ian revved the engine up and left for home.

Aurora remained silent the whole way. She looked completely different from before she went to the hospital. In fact, she was not just silent; she seemed somber.

After they came home, Aurora got out first and strode back into the house, while the couple took their own sweet time getting out of the car. Cindy looked at the door, and she thought something was off about Aurora. “She doesn’t seem fine. You should talk to her.”
