The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 2000

Chapter 2000 Ian’s Home

As expected, there was someone in the room, and it was none other than Ian. He was standing beside the window, staring outside, but when he heard Cindy coming in, he turned around, lowered his phone, and looked at her. "Well, at least you're honest today."

She pursed her lips, then she dashed over to him, but instead of letting him hug her, she punched him. "You b*stard."

Ian didn't dodge. Instead, he held her and let her thump his chest.

Cindy didn't know why she wanted to hit him. She just felt like venting.

A while later, Ian hugged her tightly. "Oh, stop it. I'm the one who's supposed to be angry here."

Cindy looked at him. Her lips were puckered, and her eyes were red. "But we didn't do anything. You guys just wouldn't believe me."

Ian was angry. He did calm down a little, but he was still angry. However, when he saw her on the verge of tears, he couldn't stay mad at her. He sighed and brushed his finger across the corner of her eye, wiping her tears away. "Well, you can't expect me not to be angry. You know I don't like you staying in touch with him."

Cindy could be timid, and she felt guilty when Ian brought this up, so she buried her head in his chest. "I know, but what choice do I have? He helped me out a lot, and I owe him a lot of favors. How am I supposed to deal with this?"

Ian took a deep breath and patted her back. "Alright, alright. Let's not talk about this. It's in the past now. I know you're innocent, but I still don't like seeing you guys showing up in the same photo."

She rubbed her face against his shirt and wiped her tears away. "I can promise you I won't see him that much, but I can't really do anything else. You have no idea how much he helped me at work." Cindy thought she was having it hard. She owed Gary a lot of favors, but now, she might be forced to cut ties with him. I can't do that.

Ian was quiet. After that hug, Cindy felt better, so she went to make dinner. This time, Ian went with her. He wasn't completely clueless in the kitchen, so he helped her prepare the ingredients. They said nothing, but they were in a better mood than ever.

Cindy took the time to call Aurora and invited her over for dinner, but Aurora said she already had dinner. She knew Ian was back, so she chuckled. "I don't want to disturb you two. It's not every day he gets to come back, so do spend some time with him." Aurora was an understanding woman. She was about the same age as Hazel, but she couldn't be more different than Hazel.

Cindy didn't like to argue, but she had been arguing with her mother nonstop ever since she was child. Hazel could be unreasonable, and she wouldn't back down even when she was in the wrong. On top of that, she was a very old-fashioned woman. Every time Cindy thought about her, it'd bring her mood down.

When they were done cooking, Cindy wasn't hungry anymore. She asked Ian, "Why did you come back today? Are you worried about me?"

"Not exactly. I wanted to come back yesterday, but you didn't take my call, so I had to change my schedule. That's why I came back today."

Cindy nodded. "Dig in."

Ian brought up the engagement banquet again. He already told Logan about it, and Logan would prepare the hotel as well as all the things needed for the banquet. Logan knew Ian was a busy man, so he took on the job and told Ian not to worry. He said, "Just rest up for a day after you guys disembark. The next day, all you have to do is show up and get engaged."
