Cindy approached Aurora and hugged her from the side. "You can tell me everything if you wish to."
Aurora smiled before patting Cindy's elbow and replying, "I'm not as vulnerable as you think. Don't worry about me."
Cindy's heart ached for Aurora; perhaps she was reminded of her own past experiences.
She faced a lot of ostracism and derision when she first entered society as Ian's assistant, making her days unbearable back then.
At that point in time, she, too, wanted to share her feelings with someone. However, she had no one but herself. Hence, she could only suffer in silence.
That should be how Aurora was feeling right now. Thus, seeing the state Aurora was in, Cindy could sympathize with her.
They both went to look for Ian after Aurora finished her task at hand.
In the meantime, Ian sat on the couch while staring at the marriage certificate. He had been doing that for the entire day, and no one knew what he was looking for in that small paper.
Noticing that, Aurora took the marriage certificate from his hand and said, "I knew the both of you went to complete this major thing today. I suspected so after seeing both of you head out in secret."
Cindy laughed. "It was supposed to be a surprise for you, but you are too smart for it."
Aurora sat on the sofa and perused the marriage certificates thoroughly. While doing so, the smile on her face slowly faded.
She wasn't particularly emotional about it, but she indeed felt a little sentimental.
She had hoped to get this certificate with Bryce, but it didn't go as planned. Subsequently, she got together with a few other men as well, but they were all just playing around with no intention of giving her a lifelong promise––what she had obtained from them were merely rhetorical commitments.
In the end, she ended up alone.
After a few moments, Ian took the marriage certificate and kept it away. "Let's go home tomorrow. I've already purchased flight tickets for tomorrow afternoon."
Hearing that, Aurora nodded without questioning why they were returning in such a hurry. "Sure. We should definitely head back."
Perhaps her mood would improve once she was back. She had no idea why she felt so moody every time she was there.
He then continued, "I'm going to schedule dinner with them tonight. As for tomorrow, since the plane is scheduled in the afternoon, we can take our time to pack before leaving."
She nodded. "Okay. I'll leave everything to you."
Then, she suddenly thought of something and asked, "Did Hannah or someone from her side call you?"
"No. What's wrong?" Ian answered.
In response, Aurora made a hissing sound and commented, "She called me earlier, and we talked about work. Then, she began asking about you, such as how you're doing now or if everything is going well. I felt that she was trying to glean information from me."
She then took a glance at Cindy and continued, "I think she has discovered something."
Even if that was the case, he wasn't surprised.
Yulia had previously told him the same thing through a phone call. Hannah wasn't stupid; given her experiences, it was entirely normal for her to have guessed what he wanted to do in the dark.
Leaning against the sofa, Ian replied, "It is fine for her to have guessed so." Seeing that he wasn't bothered by it, Cindy did not take it to heart too.
She had her own job now and her current company was not concerned about their employees' relationships. This gave her more freedom and flexibility than when she was Ian's assistant.
As a result, she felt at ease thinking about work.
Due to her being ostracized and involved in little disputes with Gary and his men before, she had always felt uneasy with work.
However, now that her mindset had changed, she suddenly felt that she felt comfortable with this job.
It was entirely meritocratic, with everyone's words based on their own capability. This was the most equitable way.
They didn't have anything else to do, so they sat alone and quietly scrolled their phones after chatting for a while.
Ian texted both Logan and Sophia that he would be leaving tomorrow and invited them for a gathering tonight.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
