Ian said nothing about that. Holding Cindy's hand, he leaned against the chair with an emotionless expression and appeared to be listening intently.
Sophia didn't mind her past with John being the topic of the conversation. She could even tease John about the matter as she said, "Things were really dubious between Isabelle and John."
That took John by surprise. "Why are you still on that? Do you really believe that there was something between her and me in the past?"
"Isabelle was your ideal type from the start, no?" Sophia replied, pouting her lips.
When he heard that, John sighed. "Being my ideal type does not guarantee that she was the one for me. It was just that I prefer someone quiet and compliant, which coincidentally, she was, and you were not."
But, to save his life, he quickly continued while placing his hand on Sophia's shoulders, "But look, I overturned my ideal type just for you."
"I like whatever type you are now. Aren't my feelings for you obvious enough?" John added.
But Sophia was persistent. "That doesn't prove that there was nothing between the both of you. She was interested in you, and vice versa too."
Hearing that they were mentioning Isabelle, Logan joined the conversation. "How is she now? I almost forgot about this person. She was always annoying. She's lucky to be a woman because if it's otherwise, I would have laid my hands on her."
There had been no recent news about her. It was as if she had vanished from the world after leaving this place.
After a brief moment of thought, Sophia said, "She previously gave John a call, but I can't remember how long ago that was. What I remembered was that she appeared to be in trouble and was in need of John's help."
Then, she turned and looked at John. "That happened, right? But then again, you were the first person she thought of when she was in trouble. This means that she regarded you as someone important."
Helplessly, John shook his head. "I've not been in contact with her since who-knows-when, but whenever her name was mentioned, you kept circling back to this. Why don't you believe me when I say that there was nothing between us?"
Cindy had also seen Isabelle in the news, where it was reported that she was involved with John.
However, she didn't read the news thoroughly and couldn't remember it now. Seeing that Sophia could remember this matter for so long, Cindy figured that this must be Sophia's sore spot.
She knew Sophia's character well. Sophia was a big-hearted and carefree lady.
Given that she was still grudging at John about this matter, it appeared that Isabelle had given her a hard time in the past.
Noticing that the ambiance was becoming a little awkward, Logan, who was very good at changing the subject, quickly switched their conversation to the Bailey Family.
According to him, the Baileys were in a pathetic state now. Ever since their previous incident was known to the public, their company was half destroyed.
Though someone took the company over subsequently, their reputation was already tarnished, and their business plunged heavily.
Furthermore, the division of the main branch of the Bailey family and the Second Bailey Family caused the Second Bailey Family to strive on their own while Isabelle and her mother gave up and left everything behind.
No one would have thought that the Baileys, who were so reputable, would collapse just because of what Elder Mr. Bailey and Old Mr. Bailey did.
Though they deserved it, it was quite saddening to see things unfolding in this manner.
With that, Logan successfully diverted the topic. On the other hand, Sophia was wondering whether he did it on purpose.
But she still turned and glared at John, with her gaze of a threatening sense.
John had no idea what to reply. Smilingly, he poked her face with his hand, saying, "You're so petty."
That matter happened a very long time ago. John believed that things between Isabelle and him were over when he re-courted Sophia, but Sophia was still nagging about it until now.
Sophia pursed her lips and straightened her neck in response to what John said. Obviously, she wasn't going to let this go so easily.
Within the next few seconds, she let out a humming sound and warned John in a deep voice, "Be prepared that I'll nag on this for the rest of your life."

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
