He tried to unlock the door using another key but failed to do so because another key was blocking the keyhole. In the end, Madelyn fell back asleep when the sound outside the door ceased. She slept until noon.

When Margaret entered, Madelyn was still in bed, wearing her pajamas. She saw Madelyn upset and pinching the bridge of her nose. Margaret asked Madelyn, "Oh my, Ms. Jent. Are you not feeling well?"
