It was extremely cold when the large snowflakes fell on Madelyn's exposed body.

She was so disheveled, as if she was a madwoman. There were injuries on her body. Everyone avoided her when she was walking on the bustling street. People were carrying their bags, rushing home for the holiday.

Then, the big screen on the street played a host wishing everybody a happy holiday and live performances by celebrities.

The cold wind blew at Madelyn. Her eyes and nose felt a little sour. She had no money with her now because everything had been taken away.

She did not know where to go. She no longer had a home.

When Madelyn escaped, she took the pedestrian walkway and accidentally twisted her foot when she walked downstairs. She was now walking with a limp.

At this moment, Madelyn felt very helpless and miserable.

Then, she vaguely saw a man in a black coat, who was tall and familiar, walking toward her from across the street. He was at a distance, so she could not see his face clearly.

Just when she felt so exhausted and was about to faint, she felt a pair of strong hands supporting her. Soon, she fell into a warm embrace. She could feel the warmth of that person's body.

She said, "S–So cold."
