The Russian Mobster: Russian Mafia Romance novel Chapter 27

I paid the cab fare as I walked up the stone steps, it was a large ivory covered stone house, with an iron gate, and a light paneled roof.

It was beautiful, and I smiled at the warm feeling I got as I stepped through the gate, and walked up to the large dark door.

I checked the address to double check that it was right, and sure enough it was.

I knocked on the door, and took a step back waiting as I heard foot steps approaching.

The door opened as a familiar figure approached.

"Annabelle." I breathed.

She had gotten older, her dark brown locks had grey strings at the roots. Her porcelain skin was slightly wrinkled, but her green eyes were the same vibrant and warm green as I remembered as a child.

She seemed to take me in, and then something clicked. "Grey?" She asked, her bright green eyes watering.

I nodded my head as she pulled me into a strong embrace, wrapping her warmth around me.

After what seemed like forever, she pulled away, a smile plastered on her pale lips.

"You are so beautiful, your hair has gotten redder." She sniffed and wiped away a tear "I tried to find you, when your brothers..." She cleared her throat. "I traveled to Moscow went to your old house on Ordynka. You weren't there." The tears were dripping down her face. "Oh what am I saying come on in, before you freeze to death. You know Paris in the winter. Gabriel's inside."

She led me into a warm looking living room lit by a fire, and low-lit-lamps. And I saw Gabriel's aged face sitting by the fire.

His face turned my way, and he dropped his book.

"Grey?"

I smiled and nodded.

He walked over to me and gave me a strong embrace.

"It's been too long child."

I nodded, "It has. Paris has done you well, you've picked up the accent."

He chuckled, "And the language."

Annabelle rested a hand on my shoulder, "You must be starving from your travels, dear. Let's get you washed up, and fed."

She led me upstairs and into a pretty looking guest bedroom, she handed me a fluffy towel and some clothes.

"Dinner's in a half hour, we'll talk then."

I nodded and she left.

After a sweet smelling shower, I dressed into a white blouse and a short high-waist-flower print skirt.

I brushed through my long waist length red hair, and walked down stairs.

I sat down on the dinning table, where I was served light and dark meat, with bread, and vegetables.

"So Grey." Gabriel said, "You came to us for a reason, and that is to be safe from...something. I understand that I can ask certain questions but not others considering your...situation." He eyed me, giving me the impression that he knew what I had been doing for the past five years, and maybe even the situation I'm in with the Mafia.

I cleared my throat, "I just need to be somewhere safe for a little bit."

Annabelle frowned, but didn't say anything.

Gabriel nodded, "You may stay with us for however long you need. Your parents gave us money in case a situation like this was to happen, so we have more than enough money to care for you."

I frowned, "My parents? They knew something would happen that would cause me to need the safe house?"

Gabriel sighed, "Your father was involved with...the Russian Mafia, being the blood born Russian he was, you mother preferred to stay out of it. But I think we all know that once your involved with the Mafia, there is no way out."

I nodded understandingly.
