The hilarity mounted, and Frederick clutched his stomach, pretending to guffaw in glee. He mocked, "Honestly, trash like you can't even get close to our turf. The local gangs can wipe you out easily. The guys in this hotel can beat your ass without breaking a sweat. You guys—”
Frederick's voice slowly turned into a whisper, and the disdain on his face faded. His jaw dropped, and disbelief filled his eyes. "Wait. Why didn’t anybody stop you? They should've seen you and your crew a mile away!" Frederick frowned. "And what about the hotel bouncers? What about my crew? There's no way they would have let you in."
"Man, I have the same question." Leoric shrugged. "Some guys tried to stop us before we could even get close. I thought we were goners, but then some more guys showed up and kicked the local gangs' asses."
"T-They kicked their asses? What the f*ck are you talking about?"
Xanxus was flabbergasted. The whole of South Nakson was his turf. Aside from his lackeys, there were more than a few hundred borderline criminals who relied on the casino for their livelihood.
Scarlett and Zwander were just a few of many. Xanxus couldn't believe all those lackeys would lose so easily, unless Jarett's men were involved. His face fell, and he looked at Leoric. "Are they Jarett's men? Your reinforcements, I mean."
"No,” Leoric answered confidently.
"And how do you know?" Frederick glared at him. "You better f* eking tell me the truth! "
"I am telling the truth," Leoric answered. "I've never seen Mr. Cole, but I know how powerful he is.
