Chapter 3414
As if on cue, his men began to nod in earnest.
"Yes, yes. They were only sparring!"
"Why would Young Master want to attack a royal guard?"
"This is all a misunderstanding, Princess Angeline," one of the men said; they believed in whatever they said.
Darryl scoffed. 'Dennis is such a hypocrite! I pity the garrison commander-in-chief for a son like him,' he thought.
Angeline chose to let it go and said, "You should not spar when it's already so late." Then she turned to Darryl and said, "It's getting dark. Let's go back to the palace."
Darryl nodded and breathed out a sigh of relief. He had wasted so much time with Princess Angeline and was happy at the thought of going back to his search.
"Princess Angeline, allow me to escort you home. I can protect you if you run into any trouble on your way back," Dennis said.
"There's no need!" Darryl said calmly. "I can escort herback." He was sure Dennis was still trying to get something out of Angeline, so it would be better if they part ways there.
"As if! What if the dragon appears? Do you really think you can protect her then? Huh? Do you?" Dennis asked angrily.
"They can come with US. That way, it'll be safer for us too," Angeline said. Even though they were not that far from the capital, they were still in an unfamiliar environment.
Darryl did not say anything further but simply smiled.
After that, they left the cave and made their way down the mountain.
Suddenly, they heard a piercing roar from some distance away, immediately followed by the sight of the giant flying creature in the sky. The creature had black scales covering its body and eyes as red as lanterns. It was the same giant that Darryl had subdued before! 1
The creature was looking for a lair when someone spotted him. So it decided to look for another place after resting in the cave.
However, half an hour later, he sensed Darryl's presence near the cave and flew back to look for him. Due to the Blood Ritual, the dragon could feel Darryl's movement within a radius of a hundred meters. 1
Angeline, Dennis, and his men were all trembling in their boots at the sight of the dragon. So the rumors were true!
The dragon's gigantic size and terrifying aura paralyzed them with fear. They were all staring at the creature with their eyes and mouths wide open. Only Darryl was calm; he looked relaxed as he stood there.
