To tell the truth, it was not that Darryl was too arrogant and did not know his manners.
As the head of the Elixir Sect, his position was only second to the Palace Master, and even the Palace Master had to reserve some respect for him. Given these circumstances, Darryl had not felt it necessary to go out of his way to show respect to this man.
Yet the half-hearted demeanor Darryl exuded seemed to displease everyone else greatly.
Seeing as Darryl merely saluted and did not bow, the elders only grew even angrier.
"Is this the head of the Elixir Sect?"
"He doesn't have any manners at all…"
"Yes, he's far too arrogant…"
As the crowd murmured, Darryl pretended not to hear them.
Gigi, on the other hand, flushed awkwardly as she hurried to mediate the situation. "Please forgive my Sect Master for not knowing his manners. It's like this, my Sect Master's position is only second to my Master in the Pure Yang Division. He doesn't need to bow, not even to my Master."
Whew!
Zacho nodded at her words, holding back the displeasure in his chest as he addressed Darryl. "I heard you know quite a bit about pill-making?"
His tone was light but radiated a high and mighty air.
Darryl smiled lightly. "Just a thing or two."
Zacho did not waste his breath any further. He raised his hands, and a pupil walked over immediately to retrieve a pill from a jade bottle. All that could be seen was that the pill was an ice-blue color and looked like a frozen sphere of ice.
It was a pill but did not appear to have any powers.
Obviously, the pill had not been a success.
"Sect Master!"
Darryl cast a glance at the pill before speaking. "Why have you given me this pill that has lost its effect?" His knowledge in pill-making was second to none, and he could tell immediately that the pill had lost effect for almost a century.
Zacho's gaze sparkled as a smile broke across his face. "You do know what you're talking about! I can't believe you were able to tell that the pill had lost its effect so easily."
"I'm sure you know, then, that this is the Jade Ice Pill. It can help calm one's spirits and stop cultivators from entering a psychotic break."
Sensing the atmosphere, Darryl was quite displeased. He did not hesitate to be straightforward as he said, "So sorry, I don't think I will!"
What?
At the response, everyone stopped short.
Was this bastard turning him down?
Did he not think of anything of the North Sea Galaxy?
How disrespectful. What a bastard.
The next second, the head elder came to his senses first. He glowered at Darryl. "What did you say? Our Sect Master has asked for your help personally, and you're turning him down? Do you mean to disrespect the North Sea Galaxy?"
Gigi grew slightly anxious as well. She tugged on Darryl's sleeve, saying in a low voice, "Sect Master, please don't be like this."
To tell the truth, Gigi was less than pleased with their attitude as well. Yet they were an ally, and it seemed quite inappropriate for Darryl to turn them down so coldly.
