Chapter 744
Many things had happened in the past two days while Melanie was out cold. Fortunately, she had Yvonne to bring her up to date.
Melanie had gotten more than enough sleep, so she stayed up and chatted with Yvonne until Xander and the others rushed over in the afternoon.
Stephen came with them, but he did not look as relieved as the others. It seemed like he had a lot on
his mind.
Melanie asked him, “What happened?”
Stephen opened his mouth to say something but stopped. Melanie’s relaxed expression slowly hardened again. “Is it something to do with the court case?”
Stephen exchanged a look with Xander before saying, “Someone from Oskon City is interfering to try and get the charges dropped.”
He looked at Melanie worriedly after saying that. They had all seen how hard Melanie had worked to get justice for her grandfather.
Melanie, however, was calm. “I figured as much.”
She knew someone was helping Viola from the moment she heard that a lawyer like Luther had taken time out of his schedule to defend her. She just did not know who it was, until Viola let Matthew’s
name slip.
However, Melanie was still not wholly sure how Viola was related to Matthew.
Since she was overworked, the doctor ordered Melanie to rest in the hospital for a week. Just as she was about to be discharged, Xander and Stephen forced her to stay for two more days.
The weather was great the day she finally got permission to leave the hospital.
Melanie and Yvonne were halfway through packing up her things in the ward when they heard a commotion outside.
They looked at each other and then opened the door. When they peeked down the corridor, they saw a small crowd gathered around the ward at the very end.
“Officer, Viola has always been such a good girl. You can’t just arrest her and send her to jail! That would be such a miscarriage of justice!”
The middle–aged woman’s cries resounded throughout the corridor. She wrung her hands pitifully. She was framed, I know it! Look at her, she would never hurt a fly. Someone must have it in for her!”
Yvonne closed the door of the ward. “It’s so noisy out there. Geez, does she even know what her daughter is like? She was framed, my foot-”
After they packed all the things and left the room, there were still many people gathered outside

The moment Eugene paused in his tracks, she hurriedly grabbed his sleeve. “Eugene I mean, Mr. Scott, I know that Viola made a mistake this time. But please, could you let her off this time on account of your history together?
