"Rooney Taylor?" Theo frowned, expressing his doubt.
I told Theo about my visit to Yard Mansion, and he seemed very interested in Rooney. "Since Sylvester seems dead set on Rooney, then you should be able to stay in Yard Mansion as long as you grasp the opportunity to get along with Rooney. That way, we’re one step closer to our objective.”
Theo was right. If I could stay over at Yard Mansion, then nighttime would be the most suitable time for me to look around.
I nodded thoughtfully and looked at Theo. "Let’s do that. I’m now mostly certain that Silas had lied to me. He wouldn’t have taken Gareth away otherwise.”
The man in front of me smiled gratifiedly and rubbed my head. "Even so, you have to find the evidence. That’ll be the real end."
"Okay, we’ll go with what you said." I leaned on Theo's shoulder, and it gave me a great sense of security. I had once thought of escaping, and that would practically be my failure to appreciate his kindness.
"Right." Theo seemed to have thought of something. I moved away from his shoulder, and he directed his gaze at me. “Sylvester not only sorted out Silas' things in the company, but he also cleaned up his things at home. This is very suspicious. I asked Keith to look into Silas, but he couldn’t find out anything. Sylvester must have something to do with this.”
Sylvester…
My mind felt like it was a mess. I furrowed my brows at the fact they had not been able to find out anything about Silas, a sense of foreboding surging in my heart. I squeezed Theo's hand. "Do you think something’s happened?"
Theo shook his head. "It's hard to say. If you want to find out, Yard Mansion will be important.”
I only wanted to verify Silas's lies initially, but it seemed now that things had changed. Even Silas himself may be in danger.
"I..." I whispered. I was a little hesitant.
As if seeing through my thoughts, Theo spoke softly, "If you don't want to look into it, it’s fine. As long as you get the answer you want. The rest has nothing to do with us."
Theo’s voice was gentle and soothed all my nerves.
I looked at him, my mood easing out gradually. "I feel so tired. It feels like I’ve been tired all this while. Theo, say, are we still short of money?”
