"Yes, ma'am," Alec answered obediently like a schoolboy. Feeling defeated, she nagged him a bit and hung up.

He put his phone away and decided to let loose since Jenny had learned the truth. He marched into his study, turned on the lights, and started working.

Then, his phone chimed as a text arrived. He checked the text—it was from Jenny. "Rest early!"

He lifted his gaze and saw her standing by her window, staring right at him. He had no choice but to leave the study. This time, he went to rest in the bedroom instead of working.
