Magda was busy supervising the people serving food and drinks when she took a glance in the opposite direction and saw Katherine run into the house from the back door with tear-filled eyes.
She excused herself and went after the young woman who she could call her daughter already.
"Katherine...." Magda called out her name as Kathie was about to climb up the stairs, probably to go to her room. But Kathie didn't answer and neither did she stop in her tracks. She continued to proceed to where she was going but Magda didn't give up. She continued to follow her.
The old woman heaved a sigh of relief the moment She got to Katherine's room door, connected her hand with the handle, and saw that the door was opened. If the door was locked, she could bet that Kathie would never open up.
Opening her room door, Magda was greeted with the sound of sobs and another sound like someone was gasping for air.
She absentmindedly shut the door behind her and made her way to Katherine who was seated at the edge of the bed.
"I....I...can't...breathe...well, Magda. My heart is heavy. Help me." She cried in between hiccups. Even her makeup was starting to get messy.
Magda rushed over to the nightstand and poured some water from the jug into a glass cup. Coming back to where Kathie was, She handed her the water.
Katherine slowly shook her head.
"Just have some, please."
She shook her head, with her lips quivering.
Knowing how stubborn she could be, Magda brought the cup to her lips and with pleading eyes, She was able to sip small which calmed her a little.
Magda, the housekeeper, returned the cup and came back to sit beside Katherine. "Should I bring you tissue?" Magda asked. She had no idea if it would be necessary anymore because of the makeup which was getting messy already.
Katherine didn't reply, instead, she was producing soft sobs.
Magda took Katherine's cold hands into her warm ones. "It's Beatrice, isn't it? What did she do this time?" Magda had no idea why but she could swear that Beatrice was the cause of her daughter's tears right now.
"No. Not mommy."
Magda frowned, wondering who it could be and what could make her cry this much.
"Then who?".....Then it hit her. "Oliver?"
"What did he do to you?" She asked with a tone that portrayed she was ready to fight Oliver.
"Lewis.. Lewis....oh God, I feel so disgusted with myself right now."
"Lewis? Please tell me what's going on." She gave her hand a light squeeze, hoping it would calm her to open up to her.
"He's been fucking Natasha while dating me." She said, bursting into another round of tears.
"What????" Magda froze.
While she was trying to come to terms with what Katherine told her, the only sound in the room was that of her sobs.
"What the hell?" Magda shrieked. "How come? How did you hear about that?"
"I knew Ollie being locked up in the room all day was no good. He said he was going to destroy me but I thought it was all a joke until he came over to our table this evening. I had no idea how he even recognized Lewis but he must have done all the nasty research while being locked up in that guest room."
"You suspect him to have snooped around your room?"
"I don't know. Even if he didn't. Oliver is rich so he has his ways. All he needs is your name and he will get all the information he wants about you within a snap of his fingers."
