Trouble in Paradise (Arianna and Nicholas) novel Chapter 216

I understood what Nicholas meant. He was telling me that the boy who once claimed to like me was not as loyal as I thought—just like Pete.

Nicholas approached Pete intimidatingly before saying softly, "Just make sure you know which women you can touch, and which you can't!"

He brushed off Pete's shoulder as if there was some non-existent dust. He then turned and left without looking back.

Watching Nicholas's retreating figure, my eyes stung. Pete got into the car and cursed, "Don't listen to his nonsense. My dad might have arranged blind dates for me, but I didn't go to a single one!"

Exhausted, I rubbed my temples as my head was hurting. If only Nicholas could be as steadfast in choosing me as Pete was, I might have been so happy now.

"Ms. Ari, when are you divorcing Nicholas? Come home with me, and my dad won't pressure me to get married anymore!"

"What are you even saying..."

I sighed. Though the Shelman family was not as prominent as the Hawk family, they were still among the top families in the country.

How would they possibly let their son marry a divorced woman, let alone the former daughter-in-law of their family friend?

The idea itself was mind-blowing. Besides, their family would never accept someone else's children.

Pete kept chattering, but I could not focus on a word. My mind was occupied by Nicholas's departing figure and the girls clinging to him.
