Celeste was rendered speechless by Sylvia. Were kids so knowledgeable these days?
Celeste was only six years older than Sylvia. She never expected Sylvia to be so forward thinking?
"Are you really Gary's sister?"
"Yeah, but I'm a woman. Of course I'll be on your side. Relax Celeste, I'll support you whenever you argue with Gary," Sylvia replied honestly.
"Thanks, Sylvia. I'll try not to argue with your brother," Celeste said.
"Don't speak too soon. It's quite impossible not to fight for a lifetime. Fighting and making up quickly is the best solution. If you bottle everything up, you'll destroy your health."
Sylvia was so direct that Celeste admired her.
Celeste suddenly thought of something and asked, "Are you curious about your brother and I? Do you want to know if we've argued? Is that why you eavesdropped on us?"
Sylvia's eyes widened, and Celeste had hit the nail right on the head.
Then, Sylvia said with a smile. "Not bad, Celeste.
You've got it right. I was wondering how you can stand Gary's horrid temper. Ah, you're really smart to have guessed it."
That was the truth about the whole situation.
Celeste could not help but be touched. Sylvia was actually concerned about her, wasn't she?
"Gary and Ernest came home together without you, and mom was wondering if you two argued. So, I was a little worried. To be honest, mom didn't want you to come as she was concerned that attending a funeral before you married into our family would be a bad idea. However, mom was very touched when you came home on your own. Also, I overheard them saying that you argued with Gary and went through quite a lot. I was afraid that Gary had been mistreating you."
Sylvia laughed sheepishly as she spoke.
It was definitely rare to see embarrassment on her face.
Celeste was very touched, and her eyes welled up with tears.
"Thanks, Sylvia. You're an amazing kid."
"No need for that, Celeste. You're only a few years older than me anyway. I'm just underage." Sylvia smiled.
Celeste felt really glad. How did she deserve such a caring sister?
Hence, she had to take good care of Sylvia.
"Come, let's get down to business."
"Oh yeah, I nearly forgot the most important thing. You see, the principal is cheating on his wife with a hot teacher, and the teacher wants to marry the principal. Isn't it infuriating?"
Celeste nodded earnestly, but her face was still red as she said to Sylvia, "Sylvia, you're still a kid. You're not allowed to listen to such things anymore, okay?"
"Celeste, I'm no longer a kid and I know what I'm doing. Relax, I know right from wrong. Also, stop being so embarrassed. As long as you can control yourself, there's nothing to be afraid of. Honestly, I've watched stuff like these too."
"Huh?" Celeste's jaw dropped in astonishment!
Sylvia comforted Celeste with a smile. "Don't be such a prude, Celeste. Ask Gary. He must have watched porn before."
Celeste blushed so hard the tips of her ears went red. "It doesn't matter if other people have watched it, as long as you haven't."
"You want to be a cop? It's too dangerous for a woman to be one." Celeste couldn't help but worry about Sylvia.
"However, there are policewomen out there as well as policemen. There are some things that a policewoman can do that a policeman can't. If everyone was afraid of danger, then there would be no policewomen! What would the world do without them? So, I think it's right for me to do this!"
Celeste felt a strange sense of shame when she heard Sylvia's words. She was not as noble as Sylvia.
She gazed meaningfully at Sylvia and nodded. "I really admire you, Sylvia. You're full of surprises, and I admit that I was wrong about you before."
"Hahaha, it's just as I said. I'm playful, but I'm not a bad kid."
"So, were you training for the police academy when you eavesdropped on your brother and me just now?"
"Yeah, I'm just gathering experience. That's one of the reasons, but the bigger part of it is that I care about you. However, I know that it's a bad thing to eavesdrop, but I was just trying to see if I could do it. It's not like I really wanted to eavesdrop on you."
Celeste nodded.
"I wanted to try again after the first time because I figured that you wouldn't suspect anything after Gary threw me out the first time. However, I didn't expect Gary to be so slick. I was surprised when he discovered me as well."
Celeste smiled and said, "That's because Gary is really smart too!"
After a long chat with Sylvia, Celeste felt that she understood Sylvia better. She thought that Sylvia was a very clever kid, and Celeste wouldn't need to worry about her.
However, Celeste was still concerned that she would get into trouble. Sylvia wanted to expose the principal's affair as soon as she found out, and
Celeste was worried about Sylvia.
She was afraid that someone would hurt Sylvia if she did something too extreme in the name of justice in the future.
