"Do you have oral sedatives?" Alice asked the pharmacist.
"We do have oral sedatives, miss. May I know the reason you would like to buy it?" asked the pharmacist carefully.
"Um, I need them," answered Alice hesitantly.
"Oral sedatives are used to soothe the effects of mental illnesses. It could numb your nervous system, but its side effects are great," explained the pharmacist. "You seem to be well. This is not good for your health."
Alice was stunned, but still, she insisted, "But I need it. I fear pain.”
"Improper use of oral sedatives could lead to addiction. If you take too much of them, your personality will change and your cranial nerves will be damaged. In addition, you might develop hallucinations. It's better not to use this so casually."
"Just give me a small amount of it," pleaded Alice. "I don't need too much." "I'm not refusing you for no reason, miss. I need to be responsible for the medication I dispense," explained the pharmacist. "Perhaps you can tell me what problems you're having? I'll recommend something more suitable for you."
Alice was taken aback. She was a little embarrassed.
After pondering for a moment, she still had no idea how to say it.
The pharmacist was very considerate. She coaxed her, saying, "I am a pharmacist. I know which medicine is best for you. Follow me."
She pulled Alice to a corner, which was relatively empty.
"There are fewer people here. No one would overhear you," the pharmacist said.
Alice nodded and smiled bashfully. "Well, let me put it this way. I'm always afraid to do the deed. Every time when I make out with my boyfriend, I'm engulfed by fear. I fear the pain and the brute force of men. It freaked me out."
The pharmacist grunted in surprise as she had not expected the reason. "I have heard about that before. But this is the first time I hear it from a patient. Well, oral sedatives are one of the ways, but it won't help too much."
"Ah, it won't?"
"Why don't you use something to spice things up?" suggested the pharmacist, lowering her voice. "We don't have them here. The shop opposite has them. There are some supplies for couples that you may find helpful. Maybe it can relieve your anxiety."
Alice pursed her lips and subconsciously looked toward the shop across the street.
She inhaled deeply.
"Thank you. How about you dispense me a small amount of sedatives, and I'll buy something over there," Alice proposed.
She thought that by employing both measures, there would be a higher chance of success.
"Well, okay," agreed the pharmacist. She passed her a box of medication. "There are six pills in it. Although they do relieve pain, they are not really effective. Don't abuse it."
"Thank you," said Alice after she paid for the pills. Then, she left the pharmacy.
She walked across the street and reached a small signboard. 'Sex Store' were written on the signboard.
Alice took a deep breath, put on the hood of her jacket, and entered the store.
As soon as she entered, she saw a man.
Immediately, she felt extremely embarrassed.
The man asked, "Hi, what can I help you?"
Alice's face turned red. She bit her lip and said, "Um, is there anything that can get women into the mood?"
"Sure!" said the man, smiling.
Alice didn't know if she was overthinking. She felt the man tended to give her sleazy looks.
She pursed her lips and stood rooted to the spot in a cautious manner.
The man handed her a box, saying, "Here, take one orally and you will feel amazing."
Alice felt a shiver down her spine. She was really going all out for Jensen.
She nodded before inquiring, "How much is it?"
"Ninety nine dollars."
"Why was it so expensive?" she thought to herself.
Nevertheless, Alice paid for it and turned to leave.
After she left the store, she walked back at a hurried and frantic pace.
She didn't stop until she was far away from the store. At that point, her back was covered with cold sweat.
She was so afraid of being found out.
