True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) novel Chapter 466

Grace knew that an elder like Old Master Carter would never allow his grandson to be subjected to a matriarchal system.

She had only been joking.

She didn't mean it seriously.

The old man noticed how easy it was for Grace to tick him off. He immediately calmed himself down and said, "I didn't expect you to be so bad."

After taking the last bite of her food, Grace put down her spoon. Taking her time, she said to him, "I'm afraid that you would be upset if I deny your evaluation of me."

"Hmph, you're such a scheming woman," Old Master Carter said again.

Nodding, she said, "I can do worse actually."

Old Master Carter's brow furrowed as he stared at her.

"If we have a child in the future, he will take my surname," said Grace.

"That's what it is now, isn't it?" Old Master Carter thought of the five-year-old child, who looked just like Heinz. He didn't need a DNA test to confirm that he was Heinz's child.

His appearance alone confirmed it all.

However, that child's surname was still Smith, not Jones.

Hearing Old Master Carter's words, Grace suddenly began to worry.

Had he found out about Little Gary?

"Today, I saw your child," Old Master Carter said in a low voice. "Do you really expect Heinz to follow your lead just because you've given birth to a child?"

"You can have surrogates to bear Heinz's children," Grace said. "I have no objection. It doesn't matter to me."

"You are getting more and more outrageous," Mr. Carter fumed. "You were very respectful to me initially."

"Initially, I didn't think you would despise me, but I think I've overestimated myself. I don't want to do anything that would put myself down. Besides, respect and politeness should always be mutual," Grace said. She was very honest. "Since you're not polite to me, I can only return the favour."

Old Master Carter was completely stumped by her words.

He took a deep breath and put down his spoon, breathing deeply.

"You should eat some more," Grace noticed that he hadn't eaten much. "If you eat more, you will have the strength to argue against me. Otherwise, I'll have an easy win."

Old Master Carter burst into laughter. "You excel at irritating people."

"I guess."

The two looked at each other.

Old Master Carter picked up his spoon again. This time, his gaze was a little softer.

Although her attitude was not commendable, she still cared about him.

She had asked him to eat more.

Old Master Carter quietly continued to eat. Then, he commented, "The food here is pretty good."

"You can eat more if you like." Grace said, "After all, you have nothing against the food, right?"

"Can you stop talking? I'm losing my appetite," Old Master Carter asked. "I'm still your elder, no matter what."

"Well, I'll shut up then," Grace said with a smile.

Old Master Carter didn't continue to argue with her.

Grace was a little confused.

Wasn't he here to break up the relationship between her and Heinz?

Had she been too rude?

Grace reflected on her own actions.

She hoped that she would restrain herself and not be too harsh on the old man. It would be bad to further embarrass Old Master Carter.

Old Master Carter seemed to be in a good mood as he ate quite a bit of food.

He rinsed his mouth after eating and said to Grace, "I want to play with the child on weekends, is that okay?"
