After listening to Queenie's words, Heinz said, "Chief Stone, although I don't know why you’ ve suddenly changed your mind and said so, I'll be very thankful if you could stand up and clarify it."
"You don’t have to feel thankful," Queenie quickly returned. "Speaking of which, I still feel apologetic towards you. If we had canceled Jodie's registration earlier, none of these things would have happened. It was all our fault."
Heinz didn't try to comfort her. He was very calm.
She then continued, "Heinz, I'm sorry, I've wronged both you and Grace. We were all too self-righteous and overconfident."
"Chief Stone, save it. If you want to hold a press conference, I can ask Lester to arrange it. We'll start at ten o'clock tomorrow morning. What do you think?"
"Okay," Queenie agreed. "Heinz, I'll try my best to persuade Nathan to stand up and clarify it. This way, it will be more effective."
Heinz was stunned. This time, he was sure that she really wanted to help them.
"Alright."
"It's just that I don't know if Nathan will cooperate. My cousin, Pearlyn, has always spoiled her daughter with love. You know how much they dote on her. I don't know what the ending will be, but I will try my best.'¹
"Do your part and we'll let fate decide." He didn't force anything on the situation.
"Then let's call it a day." After that, she quickly hung up the phone.
Heinz immediately called someone to protect Queenie. "Send someone to follow Queenie, protect her, observe her every move and be ready to report at any time."
"Yes, sir!"
Queenie soon returned to the hospital.
However, her face was black and blue, her hair was messy and there was blood at the corner of her lips. Nathan and Pearlyn, who had stayed in the ward, were stunned when they saw her.
When they saw her appearance, Pearlyn immediately asked in surprise, "What happened to you?"
Queenie replied, "I was beaten by your daughter."
Nathan was shocked, and his hands clenched into fists.
"Queenie, did you say that it was Jodie who did this to you?"
She nodded. "Yes, she said that I’ve meddled in other people's business and it's true that I really did that. For her, I even shamelessly asked Heinz to break up with Grace. Now that I think about it, I really shouldn't have done that. How could I have been so shameless?"
Nathan looked up at the ceiling blankly. He seemed to have realized something.
Pearlyn still couldn't believe it. "Look at Jodie, how could she have changed so much? She doesn't even care about her own father. Has she lost her mind?"
"Pearlyn, can't you tell?" Queenie returned. "She is now possessed. Indeed, she doesn't care about whether her biological father is alive or dead. You guys were worried about her and you've risked your lives for her, but she is unmoved by it."
"She's becoming crueler." Pearlyn stared at the hospital bedsheet in a daze, her eyes filled with frustration. "But she's my only daughter, and she only just came back. She crossed the line, but she is still my only daughter."
Upon hearing that, Queenie knew that Pearlyn did not want to hold Jodie accountable for
