The reporter's question was very incisive. Heinz, who was right behind, frowned instantly upon hearing it.
Grace reached out and held his hand in an attempt to calm him down as she said, "Don't worry, the current situation has already veered. We're no longer the ones facing a hard time. Instead, it is Nathan, Pearlyn, Queenie, and Jodie."
"The media are simply pouring fuel into a raging flame," he replied in a deep voice.
"What matters is that we know the truth," uttered Grace as a subtle smile appeared across her face. "It's more than enough that we have each other now. As for everything else, we really don't have to talk too much about it. It's more efficient that they've come to straighten things out for us today. That, in my opinion, is greater than the words of anyone else."
In fact, even Heinz knew that the Lawson family's words were more reliable than a scripted professional statement.
Having heard what the reporter had asked, Nathan, who happened to be at the front responded saying, "Sir, I used to have the same perception as you from the very beginning, where I was rather passive and always thought badly of the people and things around me. That has single-handedly made me go through an insufferable punishment."
"Before I answer your question, I want to tell you that as a human, you really can't be unkind to others. You reap what you sow and true enough, those who fail to understand this only get retribution in the end."
"When the time is up, even the mighty sun will have to set."
"I'll now formally answer your question. Heinz is not as terrible as you think. He did not make things hard for us. In fact, he is very clear-headed. The reason we have decided to clarify this matter now is that we succumbed to our consciences. We simply could not stand and watch as the innocent was implicated right before us."
"Also, I hope I can be somewhat of a role model to my daughter, Jodie. I hope she realizes that it is fundamental that she let go of fantasies and reform to be a better version of herself." "Mr. Lawson, we can understand why you said so. However, it's hard for us to believe that you've put Jodie in such a difficult spot. Do you realize this?" The reporter asked again.
"Jodie has fallen into a bottomless pit. It's my duty as a father to give her a hand and pull her out of it. Otherwise, no one will educate her, teach her and give her a hand once I'm no longer around," replied Nathan sternly.
"And by that time, she can't save her even if she wanted to. This is what a father should do."
"Mr. Lawson, you have articulated yourself very well. We're sorry that we have missed seeing the sincerity in your apology," the reporter echoed.
"I don't need you to see it. I've said everything I wanted to say. All that matters to me is that my conscience is clear. Honey, let's go."
Nathan looked at his wife next to him and said.
Pearlyn nodded as she responded, "Okay, let's go. It's time to leave since we have said what we had to say. Their malice and kindness have nothing to do with us. Let's go."
The two of them walked together into the lounge.
At that time, the news was broadcasted as a live telecast.
Jodie definitely saw the news too.
Having heard how her parents criticized her, she fumed with resentment.
Her exasperation made her smash things onto the hard floor once she reached the house.
Her fury ultimately led to her turning on the gas and lighting the whole house on fire.
The fire spread within the blink of an eye.
Jodie laughed hysterically as she stood in the courtyard, watching the fire engulf the entire house.
The bodyguards stationed outside rushed over to restrain Jodie the second they learned of what had happened.
"Call the fire station and hurry put this fire out."
At the site of the press conference, in the lounge.
Nathan came back holding Pearlyn's hand. They looked at Grace and Heinz as they walked past them apologetically. They nodded a little and turned to Queenie, who was on the opposite side, saying, "Queenie, let's go."
"Okay," she nodded as well and said, "I'll take you both home."
Nathan nodded as he thanked her, "Thank you, Queenie."
"No problem," she shook her head in response.
