Luca arrived in the cafeteria and planned to eat something before she started working on her experiment. The moment she walked into the cafeteria, she grabbed the attention of all the employees.

She knew what they were looking at and talking about but was not bothered. She ordered her meal indifferently, walked to the table at the corner, and sat down.

After she had two bites, Talia sat opposite her and greeted her in a soft voice, "Dr. Craw, you’re here."

"Yeah." Luca raised her gaze slightly and resumed eating.

"Why are you only eating vegetables? The chicken drumsticks today are good. I'll buy you some!" Talia wanted to flatter Luca.

She was different from the others. Although she despised Luca for joining Watson Biopharmaceuticals through the back door, she did not show any of her displeasure.

After all, she needed a favor from Luca.

“It’s alright, I have no appetite." Luca turned her down.

Talia, who had already stood up halfway, had to sit down awkwardly.

She waited silently for Luca to be almost done with her meal before she asked, "Dr. Craw, I heard that the technical department is recruiting assistants. I’m sure this was brought up in a meeting?"

"Yeah." Luca did not hide it. After their meeting earlier that day, Mo posted the notice on the company's website. It was not confidential information.

"You’ll personally choose an assistant, then?" Talia asked in a soft voice. She thought that she was better than her colleagues and should not have to stay in the administration department.

She thought that she could display her talents well in the technical department. However, the researchers in the technical department were old-fashioned and put a lot of emphasis on past experience. She was a fresh graduate who did not stand much of a chance.

That was why Talia wanted to get close to Luca. Although Luca came in through the back door, she just needed Luca’s help to get her into the technical department. Then, she could rely on her knowledge to gain a foothold without needing Luca's help.

"Yeah." Luca nodded as she grabbed a napkin and wiped the corners of her mouth.

"Then, will you choose me?" Talia was overjoyed when she heard it and blurted out her honest thoughts.

Luca paused and looked at her with a confused expression. "I already have an assistant. I don't need to look for another assistant."

"What?!" Talia's voice was loud, arousing the attention of others. After she noticed that, she asked in a softer voice, "Dr. Craw, weren't you..."

She paused and decided to phrase it in another way. "Who’s your assistant?"

"Mr. Link," Luca said.

Talia tightened her grip on the utensils. ‘She chose Rhett?!’

She knew Rhett because they had attended the same interview session. The school Rhett graduated from was not as good as hers but he had a few years of professional experience, so the company hired him and he was in the first batch of assistants.

"Isn't Rhett the assistant of the entire technical department? Why do you want him to be your personal research assistant?" Talia asked. She never expected that Rhett would repeatedly ruin her plans.

She could accept that she lost the first round during the interview, but she did not expect that Rhett would also beat her in being Luca's assistant.

"The technical department changed the rules, so Rhett is now my personal research assistant." Luca saw the jealousy in Talia's eyes and knew that she wanted nothing more than to join the technical department. However, she was in no place to help.
