Chapter 155
Under the moonlight, Yvette looked up at the face of the man she had loved for half her life. Her throat tightened as she asked, “Mr. Lane, didn’t we have an agreement?”
Xavier’s hand, which was on her face, froze as he met her clear eyes. It seemed like she might cry any
moment.
He didn’t know why, but a wave of bitterness surged in his heart. He withdrew his hand, got out of bed,
and left the room.
As he stood outside, he couldn’t shake off the image of Yvette’s distant gaze.
Mr. Lane?
He sat in his car and smoked. Then, he called Mark and asked, “What day is it today?”
It was 2:00 am. Mark had just been woken up by the phone call and couldn’t help but feel confused by the abrupt question.
After a moment of thought, he couldn’t recall anything significant about the day and got up to check.
There were no notable business deals or holidays. Then, spotting birthday on his computer, he realized it was Yvette’s birthday.
He called Xavier back. “Mr. Lane, it’s Ms. Snyder’s birthday.”

Fortunately, Mark had done a background check when Yvette had married Xavier. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have known it was her birthday.
Xavier hadn’t expected it to be Yvette’s birthday. He didn’t even remember her birthday! That explained
her attitude.
That also explained why Claude had chosen to return that night.
Noticing Xavier’s silence, Mark asked, “Mr. Lane, should we prepare a gift?”
Xavier only snapped out of his thoughts when the cigarette burned down to his fingers. “It’s fine,” he said before hanging up.
He sat in the car all night.
The next morning, he knocked on the door to Yvette’s hospital room. Since she could be discharged now, he said, “Let’s go. I want to take you somewhere.”
Yvette gave him a puzzled look. “Where are we going?
“You’ve always wanted to meet your son, right?”
A spark of light appeared in Yvette’s otherwise hollow eyes. “Thank you…” She started speaking, only to find it awkward to thank him. After all, he was the one who had taken Noah away.
“Don’t mention it.” He sure was nonchalant about this.
The car ride was significantly less tense.

Noah’s condition had stabilized. With all his meals taken care of, he lived a considerably comfortable life
at Fortian Manor.
However, he was curious about when his bastard father would visit him again. Noah knew that it wa Yvette’s birthday and wondered if Xavier celebrated it with her.
“Ms. Wendy, when will Mr. Xavier come to see me again?” Noah asked, looking up at Wendy with his big eyes.
Wendy wasn’t sure. Since Xavier’s last visit and the subsequent chaos, she suspected he wouldn’t return any time soon. “I’m afraid I don’t know,” she replied.
Noah sighed. “Can I call Mr. Xavier, Ms. Wendy?” It was so boring to just eat and drink every day. He wanted to mess with his bastard father.
