Chapter 188
The fireworks dazzled in the sky and disappeared in an instant.
A couple stood near Yvette, and the woman held the man’s hand while saying, “Let’s be together forever.” Yvette looked at them from behind and suddenly wanted to be in a relationship.
Ever since she had started to like Xavi.
she had rejected every man who had been interested in her. She
had never dated anyone and had married Xavier just like that.
She had never experienced being in a relationship before. She looked at the dark sky and started to tear up. Then, she softly said, “Dad, I’m having regrets now.”
She regretted marrying Xavier and regretted insisting on choosing someone who didn’t love her.
The fireworks ended at 8:30 pm, and everyone left the scene. When Mark arrived to pick Yvette up, he saw her standing there alone. She looked really lonely from behind.
Mark remembered how his fiancée had told him that a person had to make someone they loved feel safe.. One couldn’t let another woman affect their relationship with someone else.
At that moment, he actually felt sorry for Yvette.
Mark stopped the car on the side. Then, he got out of the vehicle to stand next to her. “I’m here to take you home, Ms. Snyder.”
Yvette only returned to her senses after a while. When she looked at him, she stopped tearing up and politely said, “Thanks a lot.”
After they got into the car, Mark purposely turned up the heat in the vehicle. Although Yvette had gotten stronger after living abroad for a few years, she was still weaker than an average person.
When the air was too cold, she became extremely pale. It looked as if she would topple if the wind picked
Mark looked at her through the rearview mirror. As he drove, he explained on Xavier’s behalf, “Ms. Reyes was almost killed by a fanboy tonight, and the doctors are still trying to save her at the hospital now. She said she wanted to see Mr. Lane one last time.”
Yvette couldn’t help smiling bitterly when she heard that. If Xavier looked into it a little, he would know that it wasn’t a fanboy.
She also didn’t believe Daphne would be in any danger, given what the latter was capable of. Other than that, Andy was still in Claude’s hands, so there was no way he would have been able to hurt Daphne. Yvette figured Daphne was faking it.
“Yeah.” She paused for a while. “I know. He told me everything.”
Mark let out a breath of relief.
He had been working for Xavier for a long time, and he realized that Xavier really had started liking Yvette.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have searched for her for so many years, let alone dropped his work for her. He had even looked for everything that had anything to do with James.
However, Xavier didn’t know how to express his feelings. If his love was put into percentages, he

definitely only knew how to express 10% of it.
The streetlights lit dimly, and Yvette looked out the window in a daze.
They finally reached Dewberry Manor after a while. Xavier hadn’t returned yet, so she got into bed after washing herself up. It was a good time for her to call Kiki and Zachary, 1
“How have you been?” Kiki asked after answering the call.
Yvette had been with Xavier for the past few days, so they hadn’t had time to contact each other at all.
Yvette briefly told her what had happened. However, she didn’t mention how Xavier had abandoned her by the river for Daphne. Then, she asked where Zachary was.
