“Poor Ms. Xenos. She didn’t have a daughter herself, and she ended up losing the girl she had painstakingly raised as her daughter.” 

“Right? I remember Yvette as a smart and well–behaved girl. Why did she leave this world at such a young age?” 

“Living in a rich househ’d isn’t always a good life. The last time I saw her here, she looked like a completely different person. She was so skinny that a gust of wind could have blown her away.”

“Where are they?” 

Naturally, the people in Sangine County had never seen such 

a spectacle before. They all sat up straight and kept their 

heads low. 

They didn’t dare look at Xavier, who sat on the main seat with a regal bearing, looking moody. 

“Two nights ago, I hear Ms. Xenos crying. When I went to check up on her, I learned that Yvette had died.” 

“The death of a young person is a sad thing. That night, they cremated her and laid her to rest.” 

Yvette had been laid to rest on that night itself….

“No one knows where Ms. Xenos went after the burial.” 

The others also began to chime in. Mark asked them again where Claude had gone, but they just looked at each other. None of them knew where he had gone. 

They explained that Claude was an orphan; one day, he had been taken away and had never returned again. 

It was now 12:03 am. It was still raining heavily, with flashing lightning followed by claps of thunder. The countryside only had dirt roads, which made travel quite difficult. 

“Mr. Lane, should we go to the graveyard tomorrow?”

Xavier gave him a look. 

Mark immediately shut up. Holding up the umbrella, he trailed after Xavier carefully.

Finally, they arrived at the graveyard. Xavier immediately spotted the lone new grave at the top of the hill. His throat tightened, and he stopped in his tracks. 

After a long moment, he finally spoke. “Dig it up!” 

If Yvette was alive, he wanted to find her. If she was dead, he wanted to see her body! Until he saw Yvette dead, he 

wouldn’t believe it! 

In the dark night, Xavier watched quietly, with a chilly expression on his face, as the new grave was dug up, bit by bit. His heart was in his throat. 

Finally, a bodyguard came to him with an urn. “Here, Mr. Lane.” 

Xavier straightened up. In the dark, his expression couldn’t be seen clearly. “Take it back.” 

On the way back, he was very quiet. He had never been one to hide his emotions, but that day, no one could guess whether he was happy or sad.
