Chapter 219
Yvette looked at the yard near her and thought about what Marlene had said. Then, she curiously entered the yard.
It was clean there, and there was a lilac tree there that smelled great. It felt familiar, and Yvette knew she had been there before.
When she had been younger, she had visited the Lanes with James. She figured she had forgotten about it because it had been so long.
She stood under the tree and looked at the red wooden building near her. She slowly walked to it and reached out to open the wooden door. The door slowly creaked open, and she saw everything inside.
All the furniture inside was covered with some white cloths, and it seemed like they were trying to hide something. Yvette was confused. She wondered what Marlene wanted her to see.
She removed one of the cloths, and something fell on the ground loudly. Yvette walked to it and saw that it was a photo frame. When she picked it up and took a closer look, she was stunned.
It was a photo of two people. Two identical–looking kids were standing side–by–side. One of them looked cold, while the other was smiling brightly. There was a sentence written in the bottom corner. “Xavier, the elder brother. Jeremiah, the younger brother.”
When she saw the names, she suddenly felt anxious and didn’t know why she was feeling that way. She immediately took off the rest of the cloth and found more photos.
They were the same type of photos. However, they were photos of the same people when they were young adults.
In one of the photos, the man standing on the right was dressed in a suit and looked cold. Meanwhile, the man on the left wore casual attire and looked gentle. Although they looked identical, anyone would be able to tell they were different people when they stood together.
The same sentence was written in the corner of this photo.
The cold person on the right was Xavier, and the gentle–looking man on the left was his brother, Jeremiah
Lane.
Yvette was shocked. At that moment, she realized she had probably made a mistake throughout the past few years! However, she had liked Xavier since the beginning, so how would she be mistaken?
She held the photos with trembling hands. Just as she wanted to find more clues, she suddenly heard. someone talking outside. So, she had no choice but to leave first.
-Yvette left through the backdoor. As she walked, she held onto one of the photos, and her face was pale.
She wanted to ask Xavier what was going on. She wanted to know why she hadn’t known that he had a twin brother.
She walked toward the banquet in the cold wind. Meanwhile, Marlene was standing on a balcony nearby with a glass of wine in her hand. She smiled slightly and said, “It seems like my hunch was right.”
She placed the glass down and headed toward the banquet as well.
At the banquet, the guests were peacefully enjoying their drinks. When Yvette showed up, everyone
turned their attention to her.
