Clifford's expression visibly changed upon hearing Zayden's words. He looked at Yvette and asked, "Is that true?"
Yvette met his harsh gaze without an ounce of fear. "Does that mean that Noah can't be treated fairly if he's not a great-grandson of the Lane family?"
Marlene chuckled coldly upon hearing her words. "How can a bastard child you had with some unknown man be compared with Malcolm?"
The words "bastard child" deeply angered Yvette. Her glare at Marlene turned icy. Upon seeing her, Marlene instantly backed away, recalling the kick from her earlier.
"Why are you glaring at me? Did I say something wrong now? I want you and your son to pay with your lives if anything happens to my son!"
Yvette clenched her fists tight.
At that moment, a deep voice sounded. "What if something happens to my son then?"
Everyone turned and saw Xavier walking over with his men. He took the lead and strode confidently to them. His commanding presence made Marlene and Zayden fall silent immediately.
Clifford's expression was dark when he saw Xavier. "Zayden told me that this Noah isn't even your son, Xav."
Zayden felt uncomfortable hearing Clifford mention his complaint.
Xavier kept his composure and asked, "Wouldn't I know if Noah is my son, Grandpa?"
Clifford reiterated Zayden's earlier words to Xavier while holding the stack of documents.
"The dates don't match up, Xav. You've been tricked by Yvette," Zayden said.
A glance from Xavier immediately rendered him quiet.
Marlene believed that Xavier wouldn't do anything to her, seeing that she was a woman. She continued to complain, saying, "I was even kicked by Yvette earlier, Xav. You've got to do some explaining here!"
Xavier frowned slightly.
Yvette expected him to chide her about it. However, he said, "Yvette is pregnant, yet she risked herself to kick you. Shouldn't you reflect on yourself instead?"
