Uncle's Love: My Sweet Little Wife novel Chapter 103

It was Kara's birthday at the Dragon Boat Festival.

Kara was a premature baby, and she had come to this world in such a hurry that day. This had something to do with the Linda of the Quains.

Eighteen years ago, Veronica, who was in poor health, was admitted to the hospital early in order to keep her baby safe. David was worried about his wife alone and would come to the hospital to accompany her after work every day.

Linda was not happy about it. From the beginning, she did not agree with her eldest son to marry Veronica. Linda thought that Veronica was sick all the time and did not know how to do housework and she would only stay in her room and draw.

What made her detest Veronica the most was that she took her position as the eldest daughter-in-law but did not give birth to a son for the Quains. When Veronica finally got pregnant, it was a girl and Veronica had to get in a hospital so early, costing many medical expenses every.

Linda predicted that Veronica might lose her child, so Linda asked David to divorce Veronica. She asked David to come during the short holiday of the Dragon Boat Festival and see a few girls introduced by some relatives.

Unexpectedly, Veronica knew about it. Veronica's water broke that day and was in pain for three days and nights. When she gave birth to Kara, she almost died during the operation.

David had always felt guilty towards his wife and daughter and quarreled with her mother. He moved out of the Quain's and bought a villa for his wife and daughter.

Therefore, Linda disliked Kara very much and thought that Kara was a jinx. If Kara had not been born, Linda's relationship with her eldest son would not have stiffened.

These past events, Kara had heard them from someone else, but she did not care about the details.

Standing in front of her parents' tombstone, Kara thought that she would have a lot to say, but in the end, she couldn't say a word and just wanted to cry.

James stood next to her and saw her burp from crying. He squatted down and held her in arms.

"Don't you know that you look ugly when you cry?"

Kara wiped her tears and wanted to control herself from burping, but she couldn't.

"So be it. Mom and Dad won't dislike me for it."

Although she said this, she did not break free from his arms.

Looking at the photo on the tombstone, she sobbed, "Mom, today is my birthday. I am already an adult. Dad, don't worry. I'm much better now. I will live well and happily..."

She would be facing the world of adults from now on!

James hugged the girl with one hand, his brown eyes fixed on the tombstone. His eyes were filled with complex emotions.

"David, I will take care of Kara from now on!"

Perhaps because Kara was tired from crying, after she got into the car, she leaned on James's shoulder and fell asleep.

James saw that she was crying so much that her lips were pale and her brown eyes were deep. When they returned to the villa, he did not wake her up. He lowered his head and kissed one side of her cheek, carrying her out of the car.

Mason saw the intimate behaviors of Mr. James and Kara from the rearview mirror and widened his eyes in surprise.

Wasn't him Miss Kara's uncle?

Mr. James wasn't someone who would be so indiscrete. If he could make such a move, then his feelings towards Miss Kara had probably changed.

Suddenly, Mason felt a cold gaze on him. He trembled and quickly withdrew his gaze.

"Mason, do what you should do, understand?"

"Yes, Mr. James."

Mason sighed in his heart and thought that Miss Kara was innocent and naive, but if she knew the feelings Mr. James had for him, she might not know how to face him.

...

Kara was woken up by her phone rings. She rubbed her sore eyes and got out of bed to find her phone.

It was a call from Eli.

Kara took a deep breath and answered.

"Happy birthday, Kara." Eli's voice was light.

"Thank you." Kara was infected by his voice, and his soft voice indicated a hint of a smile.

"Kara, how are you going to celebrate your birthday?"
