Under the Heiress' Facade novel Chapter 675

How could Bernard be so selfish?

Bernard rarely saw Hera get so mad, so he was filled with guilt and worry.

"I'm so sorry, sweetie." He sounded earnest. "I should've told you about this sooner. I was too selfish. I was afraid that you'd leave me if you found out. I just don't want to lose you again."

Reaching for Hera's hand, he slid down from the chair and knelt before her. Tiramisu jumped off Hera's lap at Bernard's sudden movement.

Hera herself was taken by surprise too. The anxiety and plea in his gaze did not escape her eyes, making her heart heavy.

She averted her gaze as she found herself unable to look at him any longer. She was afraid that if she stared into his eyes much longer, she'd give in and believe his words.

She once loved him with all her heart, after all. Yet, he had broken her heart repeatedly.

She couldn't afford to make the same mistake again. He had lied to her twice, so she swore to herself that she wouldn't buy his lies anymore.

Seeing the cold resolve in her eyes, Bernard started to fret.

"Sweetie, look at me," he pleaded. "I was wrong. I won't do it again. I'm sorry. Please give me another chance."

"I did, Bernard," Hera told him.

She chose to forgive him the last time. But in the end, what did she get in return?

This lesson taught her that Bernard's promise to her the last time was just a part of a bigger lie!

Bernard fell silent. Hera had indeed given him a chance to repent, but he ruined it.

Eventually, he said, "I've never gotten into a relationship before. I'm inexperienced in this, and I've hurt you. Can you please give me another chance? Let me fix my mistakes and make it up to you."
