Karen served Patrick some food before saying gratefully, “Thank you for always looking out for me, Pat” 

Patrick poked her forehead and replied with an affectionate smile, “You know how feel about you I’ll always be waiting, Karen. Once you realior you’ve hit a brick wall, you’ll comeback to me and stay by my side forever.” 

Patrick treated her feelings for and pursuit of Logan as an impossible task. Once she hit the brick wall, she would give up and realize she would only be happy I she married him, the one who suited her the best. 

Meanwhile, Karen drank some of the soup and found it rather delicious. The soup today is a lot better than what had the last time, Pat. Did you hire an 

anewchet? 

“Yeah, we changed chets. The food prepared by the previous ones didn’t suit your appetite. You preferred the food at Glendale Grand Hotel, so changed all the chefs and spent a huge sum of money to get some of the chefs from Glendale Grand Hotel to come over,” Patrick said 

Karen had to admit that she was touched by his words. Ever since she met him, he had treated her well. He indulged in her whims to nod. Whenever she needed help, she just had to tell him. No matter how hard it was, he would do whatever it took to help her. 

If she hadn’t developed feelings for Logan first–and if Logan hadn’t been the heir of a wealthy family–she would surely have been won over by Patrick’s attitude toward her. 

However, when Katen recalled that Logan was far superior to Patrick in terms of looks, family background, and standing in society, the sense of desire to accept Patrick’s feelings for her immediately died out.

As they ate, they talked about the various goings–on in Glendale. It was an enjoyable lunch overall, until Patrick got a call that interrupted their conversation. 

Patrick always took his calls right in front of Karen. He thought of her as his, so there was no reason for him to avoid discussing anything in her presence. 

A minute into the call, Patrick asked with a sew on his face, “Who stole the projects from me?” 

Afterbearing what the caller said, Patrick ended the call and slammed his phone on the table out of anget, making Karen jump in fright. 

What’s the matter, Pat? Karen asked caringly, “what’s going on with your projects 

Patrick was the fourth in the family, which meant he wasn’t in line to become the next head of the household. However, he was an ambitious man who believed he was perfectly capable of taking over the reins in the family. Unfortunately for him, his father, the chairman of the family business, preferred his more mature and reliable older brother 

Thus, Patrick worked hard to prove himself to his father, Recently, he had been negotiating a few projects that mattered a lot to Home Corporation. The discussions had gone well, and they were right on the cusp of signing the contracts. 

However, he just received a call from his secretary informing him that the projects had been closed with someone else. All of his efforts had been for nothing 

Naturally, Patrick was pissed. Had it only been one project, he wouldn’t have been this aggravated. However, the loss of several projects was enough to give him an aneurysm. 

“They were snatched away from me,” Patrick said viciously. “Moore Corporation is trying to challenge Home Corporation!”
