Early the following day, Cordelia was awakened by the loud ringing of the phone.
"Cordelia, I handed Elijah over to you. Was that how you took care of him? Leaving him alone in the house?" Ben gritted his teeth as he spoke.
"What? Didn't Imogen come to you? You seem quite furious," Cordelia retorted casually.
Ben growled. "Shut up."
Cordelia looked out of the window at the gloomy sky with some irritation.
In fact, after she left yesterday, she also regretted it a little, but at that time, she had already left the courtyard of Elijah's house.
Returning would have been meaningless, so she decided to leave directly.
As a result, she had insomnia.
She was in a bad mood now and didn't want to hear Ben's angry rant.
"Elijah is just my ex-husband. When he was sick, I went to his place, fed him medicine, and helped him with his insomnia. I've done everything I can," Cordelia said coldly and harshly.
"Great, really great!" Ben became frustrated. "Women are always right! Cordelia, you're indeed something else!"
Upon hearing the change in his tone from the usual sarcastic and sharp words to this oddly insincere speech, Cordelia was momentarily confused.
Then, Ben said, "Aren't you all become arrogant by relying on our care for you? Cordelia, let me tell you, when Elijah cares about you, you do appear dazzling and radiant. But once he no longer cares about you, you're nothing!"
With that, Ben hung up the phone directly.
Cordelia tossed her phone and covered her head with the blanket.
Did she do something wrong?
In a relationship between two people, would everything go smoothly as long as they loved each other?
Being in a relationship was hard, and loving someone was equally challenging. Cordelia was genuinely fearful.
But now that she had come this far, she had no regrets.
Even if it was a mistake, she would continue down this path.
Perhaps she would never meet a man more stunning than Elijah in this lifetime.
Then she would live for herself!
