What Separates Me and You novel Chapter 233

Chapter 233 Forked Tongue

Derek’s gaze flickered as he looked deeply at Seth.

Was he intentionally trying to guide him, or did he have ulterior motives?

Seth was a mystery, not only in terms of his identity but also his actions. Derek hadn’t noticed it before, but now he felt that Seth was waiting to stir up trouble.

Seth smiled and said, “Alright, Derek. I’ll take my leave. There’s still a lot of work to do at the

office.”

After speaking, he walked towards the parking lot without looking back. Once Seth was inside the car, a thought flashed across his mind, and he drove to the secluded old neighborhood. However, when he opened the door, the place was empty.

Looking at the vacant room, he smirked and let out a low chuckle. “That man speaks with a forked tongue.”

Naturally, he meant Lewis.

At that moment, Lewis was sitting in his office, watching the surveillance footage, which captured almost every corner of the mansion.

Josephine was squatting in the living room, feeding the dogs..

These two dogs seemed disloyal and would follow anyone away. When Phineas finished setting up the surveillance and left with his team, the two dogs followed along.

Josephine had to chase after them to bring them back.

When Conrad entered, he saw Lewis casually leaning back in his chair and staring blankly at the computer screen. He paused briefly and knocked on the door a few more times. Only then did Lewis glance up at him.

Conrad quickly approached him and said, “Chairman Alvarez, Xavier’s matter has been resolved. He’s asking when we can discuss the collaboration.”

Conrad proceeded to provide a brief account of the situation.

It turned out that Xavier had assumed the responsibility and addressed the media, providing clarification regarding the situation. He declared that all the images circulating online were fake. He confirmed that his cousin had died in a restaurant fire, and after a thorough investigation, the restaurant was found to be fully responsible. Furthermore, Xavier made a firm commitment to hold the individuals who had spread the false images and rumors legally

accountable for their actions.

Additionally, Conrad employed some manipulative tactics on Mr. Walter’s family, especially his wife. He presented her with the live-streaming app and the recorded evidence, using them

to twist her emotions. Her sorrow instantly transformed into anger directed towards Mr.

Walter instead.

Moreover, now that Mr. Walter had passed away, all his assets belonged to his wife. She had no

reason to mourn.

Listening attentively, Lewis picked up the mouse and scrolled the computer screen. He zoomed in on one of the surveillance videos and casually remarked, “Go and talk to him.”

“Understood.”

Glancing at the extensive surveillance footage displayed on the computer, Conrad couldn’t help but curl his lips in a faint sneer. Conrad secretly thought Josephine must have committed a deadly sin to be placed under such strict surveillance.

Naturally, he didn’t dare to question Lewis and quietly left after giving his report.

After that, Lewis received a call. Seeing the caller ID and realizing it was Nancy, he frowned and hung up.

However, Nancy didn’t give up and called again.

Lewis picked up his phone impatiently and answered, “What do you want?”

Displeased, Nancy retorted, “Can’t I even call you? It seems like you don’t care about your mother anymore.”

“If there’s nothing important, I’ll hang up.”

“Wait,” Nancy hurriedly said, “Come back tonight.”

“Why?”

“You’ll find out when you come back. Did you hear me? Finish work and come back immediately! I’ll go to your house to find you if you don’t come.”

Nancy ended the call in frustration, tossing her phone onto the sofa and patting her chest before muttering, “That rascal.”

She instinctively wanted to complain to Mrs. Harrold, but when she turned around, she saw an unfamiliar maid behind her.

Nancy let out a sigh and swallowed the words that were on the tip of her tongue.

Mrs. Harrold was still missing. Nancy knew deep down that the chances of finding her were slim. However, there was nothing she could do. Not only was Lewis her son, but more

importantly, she couldn’t find any evidence.

In less than an hour, Lewis returned.

As he entered the mansion’s living room, his gaze swept across the room and landed on a young woman beside Nancy.

Lewis’ gaze paused briefly, and he approached Nancy.

Nancy was happily chatting with the woman. She immediately smiled and waved at Lewis when she saw him enter. “Lewis, come here.”

The woman also turned her head and looked at Lewis, her eyes filled with joy.

Lewis took off his dark brown coat and casually tossed it to a maid nearby. He loosened his tie and walked into the living room.

However, instead of sitting next to Nacy, he sat on the single sofa diagonally opposite. The first thing he did when he sat down was light a cigarette.

The sound of the lighter clicking resonated loudly in the otherwise silent living room, and Nancy’s face darkened in response to his blatant disregard. The woman beside her also wore a displeased expression, mirroring Nancy’s feelings.

He didn’t even spare a glance in the woman’s direction.

Nancy quickly smiled to defuse the tension. “Selena, this is Lewis. You should be familiar with

him.”

Selena nodded with a smile. “Yes, I’ve seen him before but never had a chance to speak to him.

”

Everyone knew about the shrew who followed Lewis around. During a previous banquet, a young lady asked for Lewis’ Whatsapp and was told off by Sierra so fiercely that she couldn’t bear the humiliation and was left in tears.

Not only did Lewis didn’t stop her, but he even condoned her behavior. After that incident, almost everyone knew Lewis had a beloved treasure, and his favoritism towards Sierra was maddening.

Since then, nobody wanted to get themselves into trouble. After all, Lewis was so devoted that he wouldn’t look at any other woman.

Upon hearing Selena’s words, Nancy was pleased. She was proud that her son was so charming.

“Lewis, this is Selena. She had just returned to the country last year after studying abroad. Your two should have a good chat.”
